View Full Version : European Imports - who can I buy from reliably?

01-20-2001, 06:36 PM
Any help would be great.

I am looking for a reliable company where I can buy horror DVD's. I have contacted DiViDence and RO-disc but they do not import to the UK.

Can anybody recommend from experience?

Sexgoremutants.f9.co.uk have opened up a shop selling certain EC/Japan Shock/Dragon DVD's. Very reliable and good prices.

Sex gore is perfect - especially if you're in the UK. Their selection is limited but it seems to be growing. You may want to email them if you're looking for some particular.

Ah, so SGM can get other titles as well... They take PayPal payment too, which is good. I am waiting for them to get that 2 disc Phenomena from Dragon before I place an order. I contacted Dragon Entertainment directly, and asked where I could buy their DVDs from, and they told me to go to SGM. I got their email address from a cover scan of a DVD on this site... http://www.horrordvds.com/forum/smile.gif

Also, there is a pretty big Dutch chain that ships internationally - Proxis. You can view it in English, too. They have that 2 disc Dawn of the Dead (although the quality apparently leaves a lot to be desired - I am waiting for the Anchor Bay one). Shipping rates look pretty good too.

For Italian DVDs, DVDOnline. That is, if you can find anything with English subtitles...

Please note that I have never bought from any of these people, so if you do get something and have problems, don't blame me. I generally wait until I have had an order from a shop before letting people know about it, but I thought I'd just give everyone the benefit of my ungauranteed research. http://www.horrordvds.com/forum/smile.gif

Great info. I was curious about this also. Great to get more options when looking for some of these hard to find dvd's.

Thanks to all.

I may well give Proxis a try - like any first time with an overseas mail order company, it is a little hairy at first. I will let the forum know how I get on.

I have heard that SexGore Mutants are quite good so I may have a stab at them first.

Thanks again.

Yeah, Sex Gore Mutants should be fine - Dragon Entertainment themselves recommended them to me, and they make the discs...

Thanks for pointing out the thing about Store policies over at SGM's wee DVD shop.

To be honest I didn't pick up on the posting you're talking about (which is quite embaressing - sorry about that!) and I'll make sure we rectify any of these details at the Shop page this week.

We're just a few horror fans trying out this retail thing so please bear with us. Things have been running great so far with a speedy turnaround on orders and great feedback from customers all round.

We did have two folk contact us that had received faulty Cannibal Holocaust discs which we've happily taken back for replacement. The discs are issued direct from our distributor so we don't get a chance to check them before they're shipped. This is the only hiccup so far in what looks like a great start for us (which ain't bad).

And our distributor has checked the rest of the Holocaust discs for future issue - so we're happy. But yes, we will happily replace any faulty goods (jeez, we'd be real schmucks if we didn't !!)

My policy is that I'm a horror fan too and I'd like to make sure we treat our fellow horror fans in the same way we like to be treated. A decent reliable service with no bullshit.

I hope we can live up to this.

Cheers for pointing out the details we missed (have patience - were getting there !)

Heh, heh, heh. Al Sex Gore. That is truly inspired. To quote Arnold Schwartzeneger on the Conan commentary "Hah, hah, hah! I luff it!!!"

By the way, seeing you are being so helpful, when you ship the DVDs caseless, what exactly do you put the DVD discs in? And do you post the slick flat?

I should be able to answer that one soon as being the poor guy I am I've just ordered some 'caseless' discs myself (and yeah, even though it's my site I still pay for the beggars - go figure !!)

I have been told though 'caseless' is a solid and safe option of shipping (the discs are wrapped tight and secure).

Sounds like I've definitely found a new place to buy from, very cool.

Al - it would be interesting to see what the hell one would do with say the upcoming 2 disc Phenomena - double cases are damned difficult to find... Actually impossible.

The Phenomena double disc would be a tricky one - I'd recommend getting that one shipped in it's case.

It's still in pre-production though but I'm looking forward to checking it out.
