$14.99 for Soylent Green. Oh I also saw House of Wax for $14.99 but didn't buy it.

Yep, $14.99 was also how much I got The Haunting for the other day, so I'm pretty sure they'll all be that price at BB. The Haunting disc is just fabulous, and I can't wait to get the rest of the Warner releases I want, the awesome Soylent Green being one of them.

How is the A/V transfer on The Haunting ? Any grain ? And damage ? 16x9 enhanced ?

The transfer is fantastic, very sharp and crisp, with the only problems being a bit of dirt and grain, and of course its 16x9.

There is a lot coming in August, so I'm going to have to pace myself. The Haunting is a must buy. Soylent Green I'm going to wait on. It has a nice ending, and the story is interesting. To be honest, I'm not a huge Charlton Heston fan.

Heh heh. Nah, he's nothing special. I could put up with him in Planet of the Apes, but even then, if they'd swapped him out it would have been fine by me. I have a hard watching him. That's not a reflection of the movies he is in - some of them are quite good - it's just him, he's one of the actors who just makes me cringe. All the great films he was in would have been better if he had not been in them, imho :)

Latency - how have you never heard the word spastic? It's not in everyday use, but I've heard it here way more times than I can count. However, you are in Canada...

I've definately heard people use the term spastic a bunch of times.

I use it constantly... I'm in CT :D Of course, we always say something is "wicked" cool or "wicked" spastic ;)

Andrew

Yeah! "Wicked" is half the reason I love visiting Rhode Island every year.

Watched Soylent Green today and the transfer was great. I had never seen this movie before and I liked it. I knew the ending before hand but it still seems like the ending was too easy to figure out. Oh well still a cool movie.

I went back to Best Buy again today after reading this thread, and not only did they have out Soylent Green, but they also had out Wait Until Dark (which I found in the drama section) and The Thing From Another World as well. I picked up Soylent and WUD. No sign of Of Unknown Origin. :(

i will definately get Soylent Green, i love the movie. i think the place where the old man goes is a cool idea and we should have them already. (i hope that made sense i dont know how to do the spoiler thing).

i sure hope the green smog is still in the movie and hasnt been removed, ala the Halloween fiasco. i remembering hearing a rumor that on some previous edition that the video was improved so much that the green smog was accidently removed but i cant find any reviews for this film in another region so maybe it was just rumor.

Yea that place the old man went too was pretty cool. There was smog in the movie but I don't think it was green maybe a brownish color. I'll have to check again, after I eat my green crackers that is hehe:evil:

Is it great? Worth more than 1 viewing? I hate doin blind buys and the review gave the impression that it could be boring in spots.
