Between those (tell me if I forgot any)... and I mean, the character themselves, not the movies. I do not include the bride, the son or the ghost of any monsters here.

Dracula/Nosferatu
Frankenstein
Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde
The Wolf Man
The Invisible Man
The Mummy
Phantom Of The Opera
White Zombie
The Vampire Bat
The Black Cat
The Raven
Invisible Ray
Dr. Gogol (in Mad Love)

My choice, The Invisible Man.

Creature from the black lagoon

Frankenstein, he seemed "misunderstood" but it was a serial killer's brain they used...

BTW, my nick says it all...

Change: King Kong. He was always cool. Remake was funny as hell. Kong climbing the World Trade center.....

As a kid, I was nuts over Godzilla.

So it would have to be Godzilla, hands down.

The Creature. He had passion and just wanted to do his thing and be left alone. Then humans fucked with him and his environment, then ultimately changed him. Silly humans.

I would have to go with Thw Creature from the Black Lagoon also followed by the Wolfman. I never cared much for Dracula but Frankenstein was ok.

hell ya!

I should have mention classic horror monster before 1950... I completely forgot I wrote this thread.

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't say the bird in The Giant Claw could be considered a classic monster hehe :eek1: :eek2:

Hey, the movie's a classic, wouldn't discuss it anywhere else. It had a monster... Classic Monster, no matter how silly.

Max Shreck as Nosferatu, no doubt...

Not to pick but I believe you need to say Frankenstein's Monster and not just Frankenstein. Anyway, my choice is definitely the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Great creature design. This movie needs a remake, but hopefully any CGI would be kept to a minimum as only to enhance scenes and not be the Creature entirely.

Universal's Creature, Jr's WolfMan, Sr's Phantom, and Shreck's rodent-like vampire.

Why, aren't you happy with the original?

I think only bad movies should be remade... with a few exceptions(IE Body Snatchers, The Thing)

I like The Wolf Man the best. To me, he was just the coolest of the monsters. Plus, I think his makeup is the best. Frankenstein comes in close, however.

I'm sorry, but I just think the movie Dracula with Bela Lugosi sucked. :( I never saw the original Nosferatu but saw the remake, which I really enjoyed.

That's retarded. What qualifies as a bad movie and who passes judgement on it? The fact is that if someone has the rights, they have every right to do whatever they want with it. Freedom of speech and the like, they can piss all over it if they want. We don't have to like it, but there it is.

I was happy with the first one. I just think with all the other classic movie monsters have movie after movie. They need to give the Creature some respect.

Good point. But it still doesn't alterate my right to say The Giant Claw was a very bad movie. Even if I'm a fan of those kinda 50's movies, I didn't like this one at all.

I seen no reason to remake Creature from the Black Lagoon. Clearly you all love it as it is - so what is it you'd want from a remake?

As to the question - a favorite? I just don't have one. I like a whole bunch. Horror just wouldn't be the same without the big names (Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolf Man and The Mummy). And they're just the most well known names.

The moth out of "Blood Beast Terror" is a lot of fun.
