Too bad it's from PFE, who will almost certainly do a terrible job. :(

Digitalbits daily column has alot of info today. They hinted that the Quadrilogy will be out along with Alien Saga.

Are they widescreen? I very much want Monster Squad.

I see Convoy listed on Amazon as coming out 8/19 but no sign of Night of the Comet. I also didn't know there was already a release out of Convoy by Cheezy Flicks Entertainment. It shows it will be widescreen but probably no hope for an anamorphic transfer.

Cool news, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Never heard of Pacific Family/Triumph...

Odd. AB said that another major company still holds the rights to The Monster Squad ...

I really thought paramount. I find it very strange that such a sucky company would have it. Wouldnt you think if these people had it then AB would buy it from them?

WOOHOOO!!!! The Monster Squad better be widescreen or i'm not buying it!:fire:

Night of the Comet would be my purchase choice. Cool 80's zombie flick. Not very gory, but quite entertaining.

I will no doubt pick up Kiss

I would love to get Night of the Comet but if it is bare bones and full screen, I may just settle for my old school VHS

I think MGM would've done a much better job.

I agree, and I could've sworn MGM owned Night of the Comet. Hopefully these releases will turn out decent.

I read on the "other site" that the company doesn't actually own the rights and these are most likely going to bootlegs.:(

If the bootleg thing is true, then I look forward to the day that MGM releases Night of the Comet (don't know who owns Monster Squad) properly. Sucks that we're still waiting on these though.

Hey guys...don't know if this'll do any good, but considering this company pretty much sucks, I'm a little worried that Monster Squad will be fullscreen only. Here is an e-mail address a friend of mine over at www.themonstersquad.net sent me. Be polite and tell these guys that you want to see Monster Squad on DVD in its originally intended 2:35:1 widescreen ratio! (Might not hurt to suggest a Fred Dekker commentary either).

if its too good to be true, it probably is...these are bootlegs and judging from their past work, not very good at that. im assuming Monster Squad will be from the Japanese LD and i know that Convoy was released in another region so im thinking it will be a boot of that. as for the others, your guess is as good as mine but this company definately does not have the rights to release these.

Gys were finally getting the films in dvd format stop bitching. You have to realize ever damn film isn't going to get a widescreen transfer with a shitload of extras. If your a fan you will buy Monster Squad. It isn't like it is going to break the bank buying it. We have been watching it fullscreen for years and if I have to watch it that way again fine. Lonbg as I have it on dvd.

That wouldn't be so bad really, seeing as how that disc is widescreen. I'd rather pay ten or twenty dollars for the DVD opposed to the money I'd drop for the LD on ebay.

It's either Artisan or Paramount that owns Monster Squad. Neither would confirm with me when I asked in the past.

This is one movie that sucks in P&S. OAR is 2.35:1.

As for me, I guess I'll just keep suffering with the Jap. widescreen LD. :glasses:

well, bootleg or not the Jap LD is OAR so at least we'll get a DVD OAR release. I am still happy as hell regardless :) .

Well, see i like watching a movie in its OAR and DVD is for improving the picture quality and not just giving us a shitty full screen transfer(if thats the case).

Sad to say but, this is the worst dvd news Ive gotten all year.
Me and my friend Declan were both huge monster squad fans and Declan wanted nothing more than to see this film released on dvd. Unfortunately two weeks ago Declan passed away, so seeing this announcement has really bummed me out.
