Never even heard of it until now. I find it hard to believe it could be better then Maximum Overdrive. That Green Goblin truck was the coolest!

It does indeed suck. I would recommend this film for Die hard Stephen King fans or for people who like watching trucks go on a rampage.

The problem I had with it was (besides being a made for TV movie) was that it seems to take place mainly in some backwoods gas station (complete with dirt roads), which didn't help give a feeling of impending doom on the world. The ending, which I won't spoil, made me groan. I actually had high hopes for this film when it first aired, but I was really let down (not surprising for a USA network production).

Just my $.02.

His website is intereting. Updates and other mumbo jumbo as to what he's up to. Apparently he's going to have a column in Entertainment Weekly discussing pop culture.

Trucks was the name of the original short story that Maximum Overdrive was based upon.

He already had one in last week's issue on Freddy V. Jason which, basically, said "Even though its hardly ever better then the first time out, they keep making 'em 'cause we keep coming. And why do we keep coming? 'Cause we keep hoping it'll be like the first time."

I've only been a subscriber for a short time, but SK's column was tons better then the last guy they had on the back page.

I used to see this at video stores all the time, and I knew it was just a different version of Maximum Overdrive... I always wondered why it existed since King directed MO himself, so it's not like he had disputes with how it was made. Oh well.

My guess: Its cheap to make a movie about killer trucks. Or, it was before the recent spike at the gas pump.

Plus, the truck actors don't whine about not knowing their motivation and they don't sulk in their hangers if they don't get their way.
