Anyone have this box set?
http://www.pokerindustries.com/poker.store?page=item&sku=DEMONBOX-DVD

Just curious if it's better or worse than the AB releases.

And is it anamorphic? I have heard conflicting things.

I have the separate discs by Dragon and these are not anamorphic.

I liked part one but part two is more of the same .

Part 1 is one of my favorites. Brainless, gory fun.:)

I actually liked part 2 better (not a lot more than 1 though).

Loved both since grade school. The AB Demons 2 has extra footage that the import doesn't have if I recall correctly.

I love both, they so much express that 80's feeling. The soundtracks are really great. :glasses:

I love them both and my kids do as well. When I say Demons in the theater upon it's release, they had people coming in with duffle bags and changing into demons throughout the movie. It was almost as fun as the zombies walking around Cerritos Center after watching Dawn of the Dead.

i've read a few reviews saying the Dragon DEMONS 2 is a lot better quality than AB's, but then again, it's nearly twice the price. I'm still waiting in hope of a genuinely decent version arriving somewhere sometime.

AB seem to have pretty much stopped re-mastering old DVDs. I'm still hoping for improved DVDs of LEGEND OF THE SEVEN GOLDEN VAMPIRES and BLACK HOLE amongst others.

Personally, I find the dragon release for Demons 2 does look better than Anchor Bay's. Demons by dragon is kinda grainy, but actually a bit brighter than AB's. I own that boxset with 3 discs. The third is disc is just an hour long make up demonstration and a long interview with lamberto bava that has no english subtitles. There are deleted scenes from Demons 2 (oddly, they are still in the film... weird) and trailers and stuff.
:)

I dunno - I find my Anchor Bay DVD's to be so crisp and clear compared to the Dragon DVD's which look very grainy to me...almost like watching the films thru a mesh screen. Of course, I don't have the boxset, but the seperate releases.

The make up demonstration on my 3 disc set only runs about an hour and a bit. That combined with the Lamberto Bava interview makes it 2 hours long though. (typos on the packaging me thinks)
That interview is just basically almost an hour of just Bava sittin there, talkin, with no film footage spliced in to make it watchable. I bet he's sayin some interesting things, but who wants to look at an old fat guy for an hour. :)

I have Demons and Demons 2 in the Dario Argento volume one box set put out by Anchor Bay. I love the discs and both movies.

I have the AB double feature disk and although I think Demons is better,Demons 2 isn't too bad either. There are some nice kills in both movies :D

I own the AB double bill too - love part 1 (guilty pleasure) and part 2 is good too - love that body builder (pimp from part 1).

Well if you check this out,you see it doesn't make a huge difference between Dragon's Demons 1 and Raptor's:
http://www.dtm.at/Reviews/Screen-Dance-of-the-demons-1.htm
Raptor is a bit lighter so you see a bit more detail. But black has the tendency to look grey.
Next Demons 2:
http://www.dtm.at/Reviews/Screen-Dance-of-the-demons-2.htm
These are identical.

And no they're not Anamorphic.Only difference is a German 5.1 track, who needs it?Seems to be a bad mix also.
I just stck with my two seperate Dragon discs ($10 each!)

I never bothered picking up the double feature from Anchor Bay, and now it seems to be out of print.

Maybe Blue Underground will be re-releasing this in the future.

I'm sure you could still find a few strays of the AB Demons/Demons 2 set if ya look hard enough. If I'm not mistaken though I think you are right that it's OOP. Glad I got a copy myself.

You're best bet would probably be Ebay.

I saw one a Suncoast a few months ago, but didn't want to pay forty bucks for it.

I figure I'll just wait for BU to do this, as their "Vampyres" and "Daughters of Darkness" had better transfers than their AB counterparts, all of the supplements plus a few more.

Isn't Raptor just Dragon under another name?

demons 2--- what the devil? first off, why the hell were all the body builders locked in? who locked them in? and then, why are demons turning other people into demons? i thought that was more of a zombie trait. i know demons 1 does this too. anyway, i found myself laughing out loud several times so the movie has some good qualities. this movie makes me think that monster shark could have been soooooo much more. in a funny way.

memorable:

the pimp from part 1, after beating the shit out of the locked gate with a large metal bar, tells everyone to stand back and grabs a plant and throws it at the metal door as if it was going to blast a hole through it or something.

I finally got this great package with the Mask and everything. But I don't want to open it! It's so collectible looking.

I recently bought the r2 dvd's for those.
The transfers are non-anamorphic but adequate, they have interviews from Dario and some episodes from the Giallo series.
Bought them for 6.30 Euro each. :)

If you're lucky enough, you can probably still find the two disc floating around somewhere. I found one about a month ago at Borders and although I had to pay retail for it, I got my hands on the fucker. :)

Hahahaha... ya wiz... thats the funniest part of that whole entire movie. No matter how many times you see it, you can't help but laugh like a madman. :)
I had the raptor 3 discer once but let it go. :( I should have kept it.

I am still tempted to get the Japanese box set. But damn, it is so expensive. Especially for films I already own and have seen a million times.

Demons and Demons 2 fucking rock so hard, especially the first one. I have the double pack. I also have them both on laserdisc.

The part in the first one I always found funny was when the guy starts reading that shit and he says something like I can't read it because it's in another language.. yes I can. I forget exactly what he says.

Oh yeah - I got the special set from Xploitedcinema. It's a Japanese box set with a little version of the Demons mask and all sorts of goodies inside. Like I said - I'm afraid to open it! The flicks are non-anamorphic but when it comes to 1.66:1 films that doesn't bother me. Still this is the box set and extras true fans should have. Period. Perhaps Blue Underground will top this. Perhaps. Until then, it's worth the $120.00 if you can spare it.

demons rules 10 out of 10 but demons 2 kind of drags 7.5 out of 10
