Looks cool, just a teaser poster, but interesting direction, using the child, gives it a message, no living being is safe, even if your young.

It is a fake

Here is a letter a dude got on homepageofthedead from the producers of the remake.

"Hi Gary,
The Poster, I can guarantee that whatever it is, it is not official. There is no final key art for this film yet. I can get you an official poster for free when they come in -so save your money. I'll try to get a release date for you on the poster. You probably know that the teaser trailer is going up with Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Thanks,
Hilary"

NOT A TEASER, BUT A TRAILER

"Hmmmm...very odd. While the remake for Dawn of the Dead just recently finished filming, you wouldn't think anyone would be doing much to promote it as of yet. Too early, as they say. However one site, Rayza.net, has found this over on eBay and it had some of us scratching our collective heads.

Since my Japanese reading skills are about as good as, say, a dogs, I really have no idea what much of it says, but it seems to be a Japanese teaser poster for the remake of zombie classic, doesn't it? Yeah, I know the title in English gives that away, too. However...after doing some of their own research over at Rayza, it's been discovered this morning that this, indeed, is just some fan art. Some pretty spiffy looking fan art, granted, but it's nothing official. So if you happen to see it on eBay, AVOID!

He did find out one bit of interesting news, though. Seems there are plans to have a teaser trailer for Dawn of the Dead attached to prints of New Line's Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, which opens on October 17th. Even though the script got nothing but bad to tepid reviews, I'm still pretty psyched to see what they will do with another big budget zombie film, especially with no signs of Paul W.S. Anderson anywhere near it (sorry, I just had to...)."

Hey Deaddevilman. While I realize that you dislake most of Romero's work, why do you feel the need to stink up every thread that has anything to do with Romero by putting his work down. Of course you have the right to speak your mind, but I think we understand your stance on Romero so no need to rehash this again is there?

If you noticed... I was replying to Mortis's stab at Anderson and I ended the statement with a smile. Don't take it so seriously, just like Romero's talent :D

Oh yeah, the sentence down the middle of her face roughly translates to "be afraid of your loved ones"

Sure it's fake, but damn it looks cool.

I, on the other hand, will not be paying to see this nore TCM. I despise remakes of film.

Toho-Towa has the poster on their official to be released site. It also says the movie will hit the big screen sometime in 2004. Could it be it's real after all?

NOT A TEASER, BUT A TRAILER

"**UPDATE** Okay, now it's looking like it might actually be an official Japanese poster. If you check out the site for Toho, who is releasing the film in Japan, you'll find it there. For now, let's just keep this as rumor and see what happens."

DAWN OF THE TRUTH?

"The simple craziness that has surrounded this damn poster is enough to make one wonder just how connected we really are now thanks to the internet. Is it real? Is it fan art? Does Universal have strange glowing-eyed girls in their employ? Well, maybe not so much that last one...

Gary, webmaster of Wet 'N Wild Radio, a site that has somehow become a bastion of Dawn of the Dead remake news, got into contact with both James Gunn (screenwriter) and Eric Newman (producer) and has learned that the poster is, in fact, legit.

"The artwork is based on some early make-up mock-ups that were done before we started shooting. The art does not at all accurately reflect our finished zombies (they do not, for instance, have glowing blue eyes)," Gunn wrote on the boards over at his official site. The reason Universal never approved it is because Towa is releasing it in Japan and Universal didn't need to approve it. So they say.

Well...for now, we'll say that the poster is real, that it's very early artwork for a film not set for release until next year, but it's still a bit chilling nonetheless. At least we know the zombies will look more like zombies when the film is released."
