WHAT'S NEXT ON THE REMAKE BLOCK?

"I'm not even going to get upset about Hollywood remakes anymore, and that's a promise. From what I've heard about the the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, and that is quite a bit so far, it's actually pretty damn good and if they can pull that off...well who knows.

While attending a screening of TCM this weekend, a scooper over at Dark Horizons decided to stick around for the Q&A afterwards, which consisted of R.Lee Ermey, Heather Kafka, and executive producer Jeff Allard. They mentioned another "big remake", but wouldn't say what it was, until the scooper was able to talk to someone official afterwards. It was then revealed to him the next remake of a classic 70's horror flick would be...

The Hills Have Eyes.

Like I said, if they can make fans of the original TCM with a remake produced by Michael Bay and staring a lot of very pretty people, I can imagine they could pull off other miracles, too. Remaking the classic Wes Craven cannibal movie (get the brand-new DVD of it here) is risky, but almost makes sense if you consider the look and feel of the new TCM.

The scoopers anonymous source said they're going into production this year on it, so consider us on it, folks."

I keep seeing the trailor for the new TCM and it looks pretty good, but what's happened to men since the original?

I keep seeing the trailor thinking the babes all look hot, then they go to a guy with a goatee and he looks like a little girl with facial hair. Makes me want to throw up.

He should shave that thing off and take the part of Arnold in the remake of Diff'rnt Strokes where an affluent black couple adopts a couple of disadvantaged white kids and they take the good and take the bad and take it all and then they have...

Either that, or he should be getting some hormone shots and go all the way, one way or the other.

Johnny Depp too. What is he, like eighty now? And he still looks like a heronie addict fashion model of the female persuasion. No wonder he's pissed off all the time and lives in France.

hell ya!

more remakes of great horror films!!

well, I could say "why don't you just make something original" but we'd end up having trash like Underworld or Cabin Fever, so I don't know what to do.

I bet the family in the Hills didn't see that one coming?! Can there be a "Remakes Genre" specialized for movie remakes? A sub-genre if you will.

I think we've already had one ...it's called "Wrong Turn". :D

Besides, I'd much rather see a sequel than another pointless Hollywood remake.

Personally, I never thought The Hills Have Eyes was all that great to begin with. Most of the cannibal family were far from scary (they were more quintessential "white trash"), the lead-actor-kid played the role like a guy going through a period of sexual confusion, and I generally didn't like any of the characters, and pretty much wanted them all to die. I only bought the DVD because it was one of the first movies my mother took me to see at the drive-in when I was a kid, so it has some sentimental value.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, on the other hand, was a classic.

What they should do is to start mixing and matching, like Granimals.

The could make:

The Texas Chainsaw Hills Have Eyes

Halloween the 13th: A New Hope

Final Jeepers Destination

Field of the Corn

Field of Dreamscape

Videounderdrome

Dawn of the Night

Night of the Day

The American Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Werewolf

Phantasmdrome

Videophantasm

Kiss of the Prisilla: Queen of the Dessert Woman

They could keep this up until we're all dead and then start over and everyone will think they are fresh ideas.
