Just found this listed at HMV Australia as coming out Feb 23rd (sorry non-PAL or non-multiregion people).
I've looked around for more info, but haven't found it even mentioned anywhere else, including the distributor's website which does not have a 'coming soon' section. So I hope HMV are right. About time someone released this, Amazon have had it 'coming soon' for years with the release date in 2010!!!
Anyone else know if this release date is correct?
If I find out anything more, I'll post it here.

cheers man, didn't realize that - for some reason www.happyhunter.com doesn't come up with any search results for the R2 version, eventhough I can see it now by searching the sites individually. Thanks again
I've seen it before on video, and thought it was pretty good - especially for when it was made. Just curious what you'd call it if not horror?

Actually if you hold out a little bit longer Freaks is going to be released sometime in 2004 by Warner.

Yep. Confirmed by Creepy Classics for an August release, too.
I can't echo the sentiment enough that this is my favorite movie of all-time, and one of the best horror films of all-time. If you haven't seen this, do yourself a favore and purchase the upcoming DVD from Warner. I hope it includes restored footage, like the upcoming Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde SE.
This R2 DVD is released by KALEIDOSCOPE FILMS, and it probably won't be restored or remastered, so i'm going to hold out. I have the OOP VHS and a DVD-R of this anyways until it does.

cool thanks, might do that, been waiting long enough already - eventhough I didn't have to :-) - Man, I should've asked here. I'm really spewin about happyhunter - I use that heaps.
The aussie one (if it is for real) was 2/3 normal dvd price, so I'll either go that one or the Warner version if it's better - aussie dollars don't convert to well in pounds.
Anyone seen any reviews of the uk one, or know what the quality is like - is it uncut? I can't find anything about it.
Seems it's been deleted - none at Amazon except someone selling second hand from Germany, and Blackstar say deleted...

ahh, so that's why happyhunter wasn't working - that's cool - anyone know when it was deleted?
I have doubts about that german one the guy is selling 2nd hand at amazon (uk) - tried searching a few german shops. Is there a german release?

Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath for the Aussie Kaleidoscope version being much good - I have found a rumour about it's release saying it would be restored but can't confirm that - again that's just a rumour.
Kaleidoscope released City Of Lost Children in Australia as a fullscreen version - that's one movie that must be in widescreen (well, all should the original aspect ratio) so if they can do something like that, who knows what Freaks will be like, so yeah don't like the chances of it being any better than a Warner release. Kaleidoscope aren't the worst in Australia - they're not one of the budget companies, they're actually a part of 'Shock Records' who do most of the idie music cds in Australia, but yeah, they're dvd track record isn't that great.

I received an email from Kaleidoscope confirming the R4 release for Feb 23rd (if the manufacturing goes as planned). I must apologize to Kaleidoscope, they are only the distributor, however Siren Visual Entertainment (www.sirenvisual.com.au) are the ones actually making/releasing it. (all these distributor/releasing companies confuse the hell out of me). But anyway, Siren have done some very good releases in Australia in the past, notably 'Chasing Amy' CE, 'Clerks' CE, 'Audition', 'The Interview' - however they were also involved in the City Of Lost Children release. It will be interesting to see how Freaks turns out.

cool, will have to go to dicksmith powerhouse and pick it up when it comes out.. HMV charge exorbitant price.. a $40 title in HMV can be as low as $22 in other stores.. sometimes even less
edit: ive been meaning to pick up City of Lost Children.. never seen it but its been highly recommended to me.. so i guess i should give the Australian release a miss and import from someplace?

haha i used to buy stuff from videoezy.. then i found the only place to buy dvds in australia is kmart, bigw, target or dicksmith powerhouse.. just means you have to wait a few days after the release date sometimes.

I hope it includes the restored footage. I know stuff was cut out of it years and years ago.
