On 3/30 this great comedy/horror flick starring the great Vincent Price will see life on the shelfs across retailers everywhere! Release by Pathfinder Entertainment. My favorite scene for this little flick is when the strippers strips down to her bones

Ehhhh. I would advise to hold off on the Elvira release, unless you really like Elvira. The print used is very dark and grainy, so I can't see the DVD having a worse transfer. But if you do want the Elvira VHS, send me a PM.

Damn, I've got so many fond memories of watching the Elvira presented version of this one. I can't wait to have it on dvd. Great campy fun!

I hope it finally does come out this time. It was listed late last year to come out on various online stores, and then it got pushed back I guess.

Venomjuice, what is your source for this upcoming release date?

I keep thinking about getting this and I'd hate to be let down yet again because of a mistaken rumor.

I don't know if it's 100% true, we'll just have to wait & see.

Well, I noticed that this coming Tuesday should be the arrival for this little gem. Is anyone else planning on picking it up?

I am, if any store here actually gets it in stock. If not, then I'll order it online tomorrow night.

DVD Empire (http://www.dvdempire.com/exec/v4_item.asp?item_id=473613&partner_id=48678225) list the release date as 4-20-2004.

Well, the weekly order catalogue at my place of employment has it listed as coming out on Tuesday the 30th. Of course, they could be wrong. Hell, I could've even read it wrong. I suppose time will tell.

It looks like the release date has been pushed back AGAIN to April 20th. I checked on CD Universe, Barnes & Noble, DVD Empire, and Circuit City...all have changed the status to April 20th!

What the hell is the problem with getting this release out? It was scheduled to be released late last year and was pushed back...

ArtofFighting

Yes, I noticed today on our invoice that it had indeed been pushed back again. *sigh*

Well, it definitely comes out tomorrow (04/20/2004).

I lucked out and scored my copy today. It's not a bad release. No anamorphic widescreen image. Instead we get a letterbox presentation. There's a notice at the beginning of the dvd where they mention that the original master was not available for production of the dvd. It seems they used a decent video tape for their source material. That's definitely the first time I've ever seen a picture quality explanation. Despite the lack of a master, it's certainly not the best looking disc I've ever seen, but damn sure not the worst either.

A couple of nice special features are present, including a section where one can listen to the entire soundtrack to the film. It's not the live versions that you see in the movie, but instead, the versions found on the original retailed soundtrack. There's some decent text sections with detailed bios on all the lead actors as well as the director and producer. Also in the text section is an essay about the film. There's also a running commentary from a couple of critics that I wasn't familiar with. The sound is in a decent 2 channel stereo track, which was sufficient.

All in all, it is a decent release at a decent price. The film is a fun one and should be added to any Amicus Pictures or Vincent Price fan's collection.

Thank you for sharing. For some reason, DDD still doesn't have The Monster Club listed to order, so it's gonna be awhile till I get it.

Mine just shipped from Amazon. Very excited about the Soundtrack feature. around $13 shipped and I can burn the soundtrack onto a CD for my personal nostalgic enjoyment, well worth the price.

Agentsusp, can you tell me or direct me to a site that will explain how one goes about ripping these audio tracks from dvds?

I just take the RCA audio out puts from my DVD player and hook it up to a component DVD burner. And just hit "track" after every track.

My assumption is you can probably get some sort of computer program that does the same.

I don't know an easy way, but here's one I use... Use Smartripper to rip to your hard drive. Then use DVD2AVI after you've ripped it to your harddrive. It will make a wav file out of the whole sequence. You'll then need to break it up into tracks in a seperate program. This is a bit convoluted, but it works. You can get those programs with links from www.dvdrhelp.com

I just use the Imtoo DVD Audio Ripper program, mostly to grab songs and dialogue snippets from DVD's. It takes a little practice to learn all of the different features and ways to grab the audio in the program, but it's easy afterwards. Best of all it rips the audio directly into MP3 or WAV formats. The free version limits how much you can rip, but the registered version rocks.

Well, I got my hands on the full version of the Imtoo DVD Audio Ripper program, but I didn't have any luck with getting the tracks off of it. Everytime I thought I was getting close, I would get an error. I think it might have to do with the fact that the portion I'm trying to rip doesn't have any actual video.

Katatonia (or anyone else who happens to use this program), have you ever used it to rip audio from a dvd that has no accompanying picture? I'd assume that this problem doesn't happen too often, since there aren't too many disc that actually offer this feature. Either way, thanks for the suggestions and help.

I'm also sorry if this is going too far off topic.

I tried to use Imtoo for the soundtrack only part of the Majorettes dvd and couldn't get it to work either, guess it doesn't work at all. Unless there's a way to do it that I can't figure out.

Nope, I don't think I even have any DVD's that are only audio. Do you mean those music "DVD Audio" discs? I don't think it works with those, but I could be wrong.

The program works flawlessly on every movie DVD I've tried it on. Maybe it still has problems some bugs with certain DVD drive set-ups.

Just use DVD Decrypter. It is the best DVD ripper there is.

Rip the DVD in file mode

Then ues DVD2AVI to find the music you want to rip

It sounds like you want music from the menu? Or is it part of the movie but a seperate track?

Either way it can be done with DVD Decrypter and DVD2AVI

It's actually a special feature section. You click the song title, and it plays the entire song just as though it were on an album. I seem to recall my Region1 Bird With The Crystal Plumage having a similar feature. Anyhow, it's basically like having the entire soundtrack on the dvd as a special feature. I'd love to rip it over to mp3, but ImTOO DVD Audio Ripper is definitely not capable of doing the job. The error I kept getting was definitely due to the fact that it was not a standard practice.

Oh well, thanks for the help just the same.

p.s., if anyone happens to rip this over, I would really appreciate some mp3s. :D

Well, I got my copy and watched it. I have fond memories of this movie, but I never remembered anything other than the first story, and for good reason. After rewatching it, there's nothing memorable about the rest of the film. It is fun, but that's about it. I love that first story, but the rest of the movie isn't that great!
