Sorry not sure about that, but is Zombi - 1 any good?

In this case, Zombie 1 would be considered Dawn of the Dead (Zombie was its title when release overseas). Zombie 2 is titled Zombie here in the states, but it is actually an unofficial sequel to Dawn. I consider it its own movie, so I call it Zombie. With that said, I like the film. I think it was beautifully shot, and it is easily Fulci's best work.

Yes it is. Very good and has some of the best classic moments that stuck to me when I was younger and still remember to this day :)

Ekent.. Ok now I am a little confused.

So, is Zombi 2 the same one to the scene when the ladies eyeball gets poked at on the piece of glass?

If so,,, I did not know that Zombie and Zombi2 was the same flick. :lol:

ekent

Yep, same flick. Technically Zombie 1 is Dawn of the Dead. Shriek Show (or whoever is releasing this flick) is doing the right thing by calling it Zombie 2, as to avoid any further confusion, especially since they have released zombie 3, 4 and 5 now.

Shift, if you are desparate for a decent copy, I'd get the Anchor Bay version. It is good enough for me.

So dudes, just to clarify:

Zombi = Dawn of Dead?
Zombi 2 = Zombie?
Me = Confused

ekent

yep, technically speaking....

Zombie = Dawn of the Dead (overseas title was Zombie)
Zombie 2 = Zombie (Titled Zombie 2 overseas, titled Zombie in the states, and about to be titled Zombie 2 by Shriek Show)
Zombie 3 = Zombie 3 (go figure)

The Anchor Bay release gets a bad rap around here because its not the best transfer in the world but I think it is a decent release. With that said, I imagine that the Shriek Show release will be tons better. I have their Zombie 3 and Zombie 4 releases and they are both Dual Layered, and look pristine. Anchor Bay's Zombie is single layer. Go with the Shriek Show release if you can find it.

Jeez guys, thought this was all old old news.

BU claim they have the rights to Zombie 2. Shriek show claim THEY have the rights. Everything seems to be on hold until this gets figured out. 2010 is simply the date given on Amazon when they don't know when something is coming out.

The obttom line seems to be, no-one knows when a new one is coming out.

The current AB release is definately lacking - but it's also cheap.

If you want confusing, try this

first is the US Title, then the Italian title, then the UK title

Dawn of the Dead = Zombi = Dawn of the Dead
Zombie = Zombi 2 = Zombie Flesh Eaters
Zombie 3 = Zombi 3 = Zombie Flesh Eaters 2
Zombie 4: After Death = Oltre La Morte-Zombi 4 = Zombie Flesh Eaters 3
Zombie 5: Killing Birds = Raptors = Dark Eyes of the Zombie

Also Dont Forget:

Burial Ground: Nights of Terror = Zombie 3: Le notte del torre = Nights of Terror

Hell of the Living Dead = Zombi 5: Ultimate Nightmare = Zombie Creeping Flesh

Zombie 3: Dr Butcher MD = Zombi Holocaust = Zombie Holocaust

Terror of the Living Dead = La Orgia dei Morti = Zombie 3: Return of the Living Dead

Let Sleeping Corpses Lie = Zombi 3 (Da dove vieni?) = Living Dead at Manchester Morgue

A Virgin Among the Living Dead =I Desideri erotici di Christine= Zombie 4: A Virgin among the Living Dead

Zombie 5 = El Hundimiento de la casa Usher (Spain) = Revenge in the House of Usher

Absurd = Antropophagus 2 = Zombie 6: Monster Hunter

plus countless others....i hope ive confused everyone and ruined their day :)

I've heard that the Japanese DVD of Lucio Fulci's ZOMBIE is probably the best one around though still not perfect.

CD JAPAN (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/) has it for $43.53

I almost bought it myself when news of the SHRIEK SHOW DVD first hit so I didn't.

Anyways here is a direct link:

The DVD is region 2 but NTSC format.

P.S.
My first time posting in a week or so ... this new forum board format sucks major donkey ass.

George Romero made a movie called "Dawn of the Dead."

Romero's "Dawn of the Dead" movie was re-titled "Zombi" in Europe.

Lucio Fulci made an UNOFFICIAL "sequel" to "Zombi" ("Dawn of the Dead"), and it was called "Zombi 2." It's really a sequel in name only, to cash in on the name of the original. The only thing it has in common with Romero's film is it involves flesh-eating zombies.

When Fulci's "Zombi 2" was released in the US, the "2" was dropped, and it was only called "Zombie."

Sorry but hasn't Shriek Show released Zombi 2 in theatres also? I remember reading somewhere that the print was pretty good too. If SS has theatrical rights then... what???
