I recently saw this for sale at my local "cheapie" store for $9.99. I thought it looked interesting, but didn't buy it as I have never seen it nor heard of it. Is it worth picking up?

Dagon is actually quite a good little movie, directed by Stuart Gordon. I thought it was average the first time I saw it. The 2nd time I liked it more, the 3rd time I loved the damn thing.

Thanks for the info, Katatonia.
This is the movie here:

Yes it's worth it at that price. It's not a bad little flick, pretty good considering the crap they make nowadays. Definently worth $10.

I wouldn't spend a dollar on it. But there are quite a few people here who don't share my view on it.

DAGON is one of my favorite genre movies of the past 5 years. I've watched it way more than I probably should have, but I don't regret that at all. It has a fantastic atmosphere and great characters.

I wouldn't think twice about it, Get it. It's a solid entry in the horror genre that will get better with age i'm sure.

OK. I'm sold. I'll let you know what I think later in the week when I watch it!
One of my recent favorites as well. It was a total waste of a rental, since I knew I wanted a copy in my collection permanently, not return it to the video store next day. Here's Dave's review:

Dagon is one of my true favorites, and it is definitely Stuart Gordon's best film to date. I had the pleasure of seeing it at a theater, and it was one of the best theatrical experiences I've had. At that price it is an absolute steal!

Picked it up, the last one they had. Going to give it a watch one night this week (have to do some work here tonight)

OK, so I stayed up much later than I should have last night, and watched this movie.
I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed it! Granted, the SFX were a little bit of cheese every now and again, but it is too be expected with a low(er) budget film. The ending surprised me the most - did not see that coming at ALL! Some nice T&A too! This movie has it all!
I have paid much more for worse movies. Thanks for convincing me to get it!

Yeah, I N-joyed the sh*t outta this movie too! Only trouble I had was understanding the old spanish guy. Needed the closed-captioning for his scenes...other than that...a creepy film. On my list to buy!

Be sure to watch it again sometime in the future. I liked it a lot more with subsequent viewings.

Definately get it for that price, its a really good movie. There are some really awful CGI shots here and there but for 10$ you cant go wrong, its a really good flick, there are some really nice tense scenes too
(the door lock, you'll know when you see it)
edit-wow thread went fast, you already bought it!

I agree with most people in this thread. Really good flick...personally, I think it's Stuart Gordon's best since Re-Animatior and From Beyond. Glad you dug it ;)

Really glad that you enjoyed it!
A great movie. One of Gordon's Top 3 ever!
It is movies like this that make me happy with the occasional Blind Buy.
