Blue Underground announced the release of the Giallo Box Set 2 a LONG ass time ago and I have heard very little about it in terms of when it will be released since.

I was wondering if anyone knows anything?

The first box set was released by Anchor Bay Entertainment with the help of Bill Lustig who know owns and operates Blue Underground.

The first box set includes:

1.) WHO SAW HER DIE?
2.) THE BLOOD STAINED SHADOW
3.) SHORT NIGHT OF THE GLASS DOLLS
4.) THE CASE OF THE BLOODY IRIS

I forget now what all is supposed to be in the second Giallo Box but I did know at one time and as I recall it's pretty much all good stuff. Someone else perhaps can fill in the details there.

I do remember 6 titles total I think and I definately remember THE FIFTH CORD and DEATH LAID AN EGG as 2 of the films included (both of which I've seen and love). I think STRIP NUDE FOR THE KILLER is also in there though I've never seen that one. That's all I can remember off the top of my head.

Has anyone seen the films in the box set? How are they? I really liked AB's set, I will be all over this whenever it comes out.

I have a few things to do, will elaborate more later, but these titles in the second collection are much better than the titles in AB's collection. This isn't a knock against the first set which is quite good, but the films just aren't as strong as what BU is doing with the second set, especially Death Laid An Egg , Strip Nude for Your Killer, and The Fifth Cord which are amazing films.

Yes I agree that DEATH LAID AN EGG is great. European Trash Cinema once called this the "best" exploitation film ever.

THE FIFTH CORD is another great movie with Franco Nero and a superb Ennio Morricone score.

I've read about all the other films in the set but I've never seen them so I cannot comment.

Hopefully The Giallo Collection Vol. 1 will be in my next order with DDD... I know, I'm insane for not picking it up yet! However, I'm still drooling over the sounds of Vol. 2- can't wait for BU to release it!

I remember Strip Nude For Your Killer to be pretty entertaining, although I haven't watched it in awhile.

Edwige Fenech is usually lovely and the killers get up looked really cool. Great music as well!

I am most looking forward to finally seeing Death Laid an Egg out of the collection.

Death Laid an Egg is easily one of the top 5 best giallos there is as far as I'm concerned. I'm very happy that its going to be in this set. Out of the others, the only one I've seen is The Fifth Cord, which is quite amazing in its own right. I look forward to seeing the others.

At last some news about this one! (from the BU interview (http://www.horrordvds.com/vb3forum/showthread.php?p=246361))Well, along with Zombie, we have the DVD premiere of Fulci’s Conquest. Then the next group of horrors that we’re putting out will be in January. We’re calling it our Eurosleaze Collection, which consists of Mark Of The Devil, Night Train Murders, Killer Nun, and the single-disc premiere of Bloody Judge. A couple of months after that, we’ll do The Giallo Collection, Vol. 2.
And Death Laid An Egg isn't included as far as I know.

I remember seeing something a while ago about a Japanese NTSC R2 DVD of DEATH LAID AN EGG but I pretty much ignored it "knowing" that the movie would be in the Giallo Box 2 set.

Well since it sounds like DEATH LAID AN EGG will NOT be in the Giallo Box 2 set I looked up some info on the Japanese DVD ... here is what I found:

I couldn't find a review of this DVD but it is NTSC and most likely region 2 though it could be region free but it seems as though just about all Japanese DVD releases are coded for region 2 instead of region free. At least this has been my experience.

However if you don't have region free DVD playback capabilites you could always RIP the DVD to your computer then burn a region free copy ... if you have a DVD burner. According to the CDJapan (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=KIBF-163) website the DVD is a single sided single layer DVD5 which in short means you can make a copy of it that is a bit perfect digital copy EXCEPT in the copying process you can strip the region code thus making your copy region free.

Anyways again according to the CDJapan (http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=KIBF-163) website as well as the Xploited Cinema (http://www.xploitedcinema.com/dvds/dvds.asp?title=1234) website the DVD is widescreen (no mention of it being anamorphic though) with the following options: English language option, Italian language option, optional Japanese subtitles.

Anyways I thought some people might be interested in knowing this but as for myself I will wait to see what happens with the Giallo Box 2 set but it does seem to appear that it will NOT be including DEATH LAID AN EGG.

Hey Meddle, who's the girl that's your avatar? She's kind of cute. Coming back to the topic, I can't wait to get this set. I'm finally getting into giallos, and they are now one of my favorite sub genres.

Have you seen Don't Torture a Duckling yet? If not, you really should... it's one of Fulci's best.

BTW, you didn't use my cropped version of the Blair/Olivia avatar, so you can see them better. ;)

Something about having the horse in the picture made it more fun to me. Thanks for the advice, but I think I'll stick with the original. However, Olivia does look a little lonely there at the bottom of the picture. I haven't seen Don't Torture a Duckling yet, but both that and What Have They Done to Solange are at the top of the "must see" list.

The chick in Meddle's avatar is Swedish actress Christina Lindberg from THRILLER: A CRUEL PICTURE and various other "soft-core" Swedish films. She's a damn fine looking woman; Meddle my friend you have impeccable taste ;).

I have Giallo Collection volume 1 on order , and cannot wait for volume 2 . Here is another interview with our man Bill Lustig , a very good read and also tells what movies will be in Giallo Collection volume 2 .

As do you, Andrew. You have good avatar taste as well. I went back and forth on my avatar and finally this one won out. JesusJuice was right. Both women need room to breathe. So most of the horse and the random guy got the boot out the door. :)

Oh and you really must see both Duckling and Solange... they're brilliant.
