View Full Version : An Interesting Bit of The Thing (1982) Trivia
I was looking on imdb and it says that it was nominated for a razzie for worst score. That really does shock me. I think a lot of times the razzies just cater to the mainstream public and whats popular and whats not. I guess since The Thing didn't fair too well at the box office they felt the need to bash it.

The opposite of an oscar. They nominate the worst films of the year in several categories and hand out a "razzie" to the ultimate in bad. Past worst picture "winners" include BATTLEFIELD EARTH, WILD WILD WEST, and SHOWGIRLS.

The score was perfect in this film. To be nominated for a razzie just shows how stupid some people really are.
I bet those who nominated it never fucking saw or heard it. It came out and bombed at the B.O. after some hype (see the doc. or comm. on the dvd), so it was un-fairly bashed by a bunch of half-brained morons in their fucking "E.T." shirts asking why the alien couldn't just be nice like E.T.! What a fucking crock of shit!

This is one of those movies that people just weren't ready for in '82. When they look back now, it gets the treatment it deserves as a masterpiece.
Way ahead of it's time.
