I'd always heard Maximum Overdrive was cut, but I thought it was pretty violent anyway, until yesterday. I had never seen it in widescreen and was thrilled when a friend lent me the anchorbay dvd. But after watching it I thought, wait a minute. So I did a root through and found my tape of Maximum Overdrive I taped in the early 90's off RTE 1 and it is indeed uncut. The swelling of the wound with the blood beginning to spray out after the dude gets hit with the can, the kid getting squished by the steamroller gos into graphic detail, about a million more squibs in the dixie boy diner shooting. I was thinking bout capturing all these with my PC, but where on the web could I host them?

So which is uncut, the tape or the dvd?

i was just mentioning this in some other thread where we were talking about maximum overdrive. i didn't like the movie before but when i finally watched my AB disc, i was suprised at the amount of blood. it turned me into a lover of this film.

Fox will probably just use Anchor Bay's print, since it's already complete and they wouldn't have to spend their own money remastering it and such.

It looks like there were cuts made.

Read here. (http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=2482) Though they only mention DVD's.

I'd be interested in seeing an uncut version, even if it means tape :nervous: .

I would gladly double-dip for an uncut version of this one, as I saw it in the theatre and it holds a place in my heart. :)

Just watched this for the first time and was surprised to see how fun it was. It gets a lot of hate, and in all honesty, it is pretty cheesy, but I enjoyed watching it and all the insane kills and gore, including the kid getting run over by the steam roller. Did not expect that! I would def. repurchase an uncut version of this.

Oh, and how awesomely bad is the trailer with Stephen King doing crazy faces with the music from Halloween 3.

LOL that trailer is such a HOOT! When he said "If you want to do something right, you have to do it yourself" or something to that effect, I burst out laughing. He's actually comparing this to the likes of Carrie and The Shining?

Then when he says "I'll scare you.. that's a promise" I cracked up again. The film was cool, but is in NO WAY scary. How could it be with a rockin' soundtrack by AC/DC?! An action thriller maybe, but definitely NO horror film.

And goddammit I love the music from Halloween III lol. Always been one of my fav soundtracks.

haha yeah he said that like three times. It's kind of arrogant and insulting to all the other Directors who adapted his stories, and hilarious because all of their movies are better haha.

And yeah, the music for Halloween 3 is awesome, just weird to hear it in the trailer for this one. I was just waiting for the Silver Shramrock theme song to come up haha.

I think the one your talking about is the R2 Holland. All discs available appear to be the Theatrical Cut only.

Anyone with an uncut tape, if you transfer it to dvd-r, I am sure some of us would chip in cash wise. By the description of the cut scenes, I may have never seen the uncut version, even in my youth.

I don't know if I've ever seen those either. I would love to see em, and if it's 13 seconds total I'm thinking youtube it if you can rip it.:)
I'd also be willing to trade, but not buy unless it's a fully uncut widescreen dvd.

PAL (Europe) runs faster at 24 frames per second. Canada/US has NTSC which runs at 29.97 frames which makes the movie run slower, therefore giving it a longer run time.

There is a 13 second difference between the cut and uncut version here. Do you see blood during the steam roller scene? I never have so I assume I only have ever saw the cut theatrical version.

So was this released uncut on VHS? I think my parents have this on video somewhere. They used to record video tapes all the time (have around 1000 or so). May have to make a visit over there today and see if I can find it.

Where did you get the runtime number from? If from the case or internet, it could be and probably is wrong. If from your dvd player, check for the mentioned cuts!

The Trinity DVD sold in the USA is also 98 minutes. It's the same 16x9 transfer as the old 20th Century Fox DVD re-release from 2004, and includes the original theatrical trailer.

The UK DVD running at 95 minutes is simply the PAL speedup.

Does the bible salesman's face fall off in the uncut version?

Yes, It does. I went to the UK for vacation with my aunt and uncle. We stayed at a hotel and they happened to have the uncut version. I have a picture from the scene where the coach gets hit in the head and it swells up and pops like a zit. It was quite entertaining.
