What is your favorite Friday the 13th movie?

I chose part 4. Great death scenes with the return of Savini, and Jason's death was gruesome!

I voted for part 2.

Not many people like part 3, but for some reason I love the film. Maybe it is the cheesy 3D shots that they filmed, but the movie has a certain charm. I love all the Friday the 13th films and could watch any of them on any given night. Even the new ones are fine with me because as ludicrous as they are they are no more unbelievable than part part 6 when Jason comes back to life.

Part 1 is still the best and scariest to me.

Part one is my favorite. I enjoy all of these movies a lot though, well, except for Jason Goes to Hell.

Alright...who voted for Part 8? :eek2:

My vote went to THE FINAL CHAPTER, although I could have easily picked any of the first four movies. This has been a series that has been the most satisfying for me, since the first was never a classic like HALLOWEEN, TCM, ANOES, or any of the other masterpieces that were turned into franchises. The first film was a cheesy little exploitation picture, and most of the other parts in the series pretty much equal it in terms of quality. It has been a very consistent series, even if the films after the 80s have been a noticable notch below in terms of quality.

Part 7

Jason finally gets a worthy opponent.

Parts 4 and 5 are pretty much neck and neck for me. I love both very, very much, though don't get me wrong. I also love every film in the series except for Part 8. Like Part 5, Jason X is severely underrated in my eyes, and is loads of futuristic fun.

Part 2. Jason is just down right creepy in it.

Part 1, the sequels (Jason X excluded, cause it's fun) are utter garbage.

Friday the 13th (Part 1) rocks ! It's much closer to reality than the rest. I mean, could've happened in the real world (being the Jason-getting-out-of-the-lake thing a dream of course). :)

Hey! Congratulations for the HorrorDVDs staff !!! The site looks nicier this way.

Hugs to you all,
Franco

I picked part 4. But I had a hard time choosing between that one and parts 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

I don't really care for this series, but i've never seen any in their OAR, just on VHS rental tapes. The ones I DO enjoy, for some reason or another -- Part 2, Part 6, Part 8, and *gulp* Jason X. I wouldn't purchase any of these, though. I'd be interested in seeing them in OAR, if it matters.

I had a hard time picking between part 2 and 4. Part 2 was great with the introduction of Jason as the killer and Part 4 had great death scenes. I ended up going with Part 4.

Part 1. Total classic slasher. Part 4 is a close 2nd for me, but that's probably more sentimental than anything else. I enjoy all of them, but they could never top the 1st.

I recently watched Part 5 and it's the best out of the ones that I have seen. I have only seen parts 2,5,9,10, and 11 if you count Freddy vs. Jason.

I voted for Part 8 simply because I like the locations where the killings took place -- onboard a ship and Jason stalking the lead characters among the streets of Manhattan -- awesome & unique scenes created for the movie (u don't see this in any other slasher films)!!

which one is the one where the girl can move things with her mind? Was that part 6? If so thats my favorite and then part 8, then I like the one at the mental place. I really like them all. My least favorite is jason goes to hell.

This is like picking your favorite child if happened to have 10 kids.
I can't vote as I love something about all of them. Favs are definitly 3,4,5,7 and X. Least fav. is 8 (so much potential, such a cool concept, such a fucking letdown. ) closely followed by JGTH (although un-rated is way better and has the best kill of the series the girl getting cut in half while riding her boyfriend in the tent, awesome gore effect!)

THE FINAL CHAPTER all the way!

I have to go with part 7 for two reasons:
1) I think it's the best Jason's ever looked
2) Two words: Sleeping Bag

i voted fast for part 6 thinking that it's the one with that curley haired dude, Shelly. the one with that freak pulling those stupid pranks and the part with the bikers make this one my favorite one i guess. but it might not be part 6.

next in line is boat jason.

That's part 3, Wizzer. I voted for part 1, but I think 3 is one of the better sequels.

The first one by far, even though it's lost its effect on me a little bit. The only ones I really like are 1, 2, 3 and 5, pretty much in that order.

I voted for part 4 but a damn close second is part 6. It really suprises me that part 6 is not being mentioned more. It is the only one where the campers actually arrive. The conclusion of the Jarvis trilogy! You also gotta love the Alice Cooper soundtrack and the entire Winnebago sequence!

Wow this was a tough decision. I think part1 was the one that started it all and really set the stage for future slasher films. The story behind what happened at Camp Crystal Lake is creepy but also creates a great movie and the fact that we don't know who is killing off the counselors makes it fun. Part 2 is also a great horror movie. It is very close with part 1 as my favorite in the series. For some reason I could not get into part 3. I think it had to do with the setting. It just didn't work for me. I thought part 4 was outstanding, one of the best horror movies of the 80s. It felt more like the first one than did part 3. I know there are plenty of people on both sides of the fence for part 5, but it is one of my favorites of the series. It is by far the funniest. The characters are great and the "surprise" killer makes it a great viewing experience. I also liked part 6 but one thing bothered me about it, in part 5, Tommy looked as if he was ready to go on a murderous rampage any minute but in part 6 he acts fairly normal. Part 7 is great and incredibly 80s (as if none of the others are I guess). Don't get me started on part 8. THis is the only one of the series I do not like. It is a ridicious idea for a movie and I hope the director and screen writer never worked again. Jason Goes To Hell was fun if a little unrealistic.

Not a huge fan of the series, but Part I.

I have to say part 2 just for the simple fact that Jason becomes the killer, and I personally think Jason is the king of all slashers!
Just my opinion.

Three new members just for this thread!

Well, I voted for no.1. The sleazy factor is really high on this one, it is really scary and has the best finale.
Right after that there are no.2, 4, 6 and 7.
2 was somewhat creepy, 4 had Savini's best work in a slasher film, 6 revived Jason (now a Zombi!!!) and 7 had the best concept of any of the sequels, and had great sense of rythm. I am dying for an uncut print of this one.

Part 6; a F13th flick that doesn't take it self too seriously is gold in my book.

Part IV - The Final Chapter is my favorite.
(Part 1 came in second and Part VII in third.)
For me, Jason X is the worst.

Part 1 is probably the best because it is the original one. I do have a soft spot for part 6. I love all the Paramount ones. I hate Jason Goes To Hell. :(

Yeah...New Line totally dropped the ball on Jason. Although FvJ is fun, the thrill is largely gone. Although part 8 still stinks, IMO.

All of them are good in their own way but the first one is the best because it's original. Most movies, the first part is the best one but it's not always the case; it depends on the movie.
