Who's gonna buy it?

Widescreen, featurette on making of the robots, and commentary by Wynorski and co-writer Steve Mitchell.

Watched my old Vestron VHS the other day. Holds up well.

Some sites are reporting 8/17, others are saying 8/10, but I hope it's the 10th because that's my birthday! Leos have it good with horror this year.

The front and back artwork is available at DVDEmpire and it says on the back that it's full screen.

What was the film's Original Aspect Ratio?

Mattster

I believe it was shot openmatte and matted for the theatrical release. I won't mind as long as it looks good and is openmatte... but if it's cropped on the top and sides... fucking argh.

So do Libras, anywho, could some post the artwork?

EDIT: Nevermind. Did it myself.

I didn't realize it was such a short movie.

I only remember it being on UPN once. I can't really speak for the film having only seen that version, since it was edited all to hell and packed ful of stock footage.

I'm in on this one. Not the greatest by any means, but I have some fond memories of it. It's not exactly a gorefest, but very entertaining.

Wait a Cotton-Picking minute: Kelli Maroney had also recorded on the commentary - she said said so in an interview back in 2001! What the H happened?

That was when New Concorde was going to release it. Barbara Crampton participated too, but Lions Gate showed up with the rights and stopped that DVD from ever getting released.

I am fairly certain this will be the first non-OAR movie I have purchased.

I could care less that it's 4:3. I'm just glad I'm gonna have a better quality version than my beat up old vhs copy... and a commentary and featurette!

Katatonia

It might be possible that 4:3 was the intended OAR shot by Wynorski, even if it was shown in a few theaters at one time or another. I know that's true for many of his films...maybe he'll shed some light in the commentary or featurette on the DVD.

This movie always looked interesting, but not enough to make me want to rent it. I'm always finding the VHS at a couple video stores I go to, perhaps next time I see it again I'll give it a rental. If I end up really liking it, I'll pick up the DVD. :)

Damn, that sucks the big one. That commentary was pretty much recorded just to be thrown in the dumpster.

The featurette on the diosc was pretty interesting. Goes into detail about how they came up with the idea for the story and the design of the killbots. The transfer, I'd say looks a little better than your average Troma film (think Toxic Avenger or Class of Nuke'm High), but that didn't surprise me, as I had already been told that it was from a VHS master. This is probably the best the film has ever looked, so I can't complain.

I saw the dvd at Best Buy yesterday. There were 2 copies of it but both had the dvd loose in the case. I had to pass.
