I just watched Brian De Palma's Homage to Vertigo today and really enjoyed it. The film had a nice hypnotic tone and dream like atmosphere throughout and a nice surprise ending. I may even go as far as saying it could even be my second favorite De Palma Thriller/Horror film after Carrie. Anyone else get a chance to see this film.

Saw it in it's theatrical release. I thought it was great. The oop DVD release was of very poor quality. I hope they re-release it soon.

I actually like De Palma. He gets a bad rap for being too much like Hitchcock but that is a good thing if it is done well. He has done some fantastic films.

I finally caught up with Obsession and rather enjoyed it--not perfect and not quite as good as Vertigo, but interesting nonetheless. I saw the twist coming a mile away, but was enthralled all the way. Not only does the film remind one of Vertigo, but it also has shades of Don't Look Now, particularly in the Italian locations and the pacing.
While watching this, I myself became obsessed with Geneviève Bujold. What a striking, beautiful presence she is. I haven't seen many of her movies, but I enjoyed her in Dead Ringers and Trouble In Mind as well. Cliff Robertson was not bad in the lead, but his character was kind of lifeless... though I suppose that was intentional. The camerawork and photography is stunning. I'm not sure yet if Obsession is up there with the best of De Palma (I'll have to give it another viewing to decide), but it was very well done.
