Even though I overall enjoy the origional movie, it was kind of a one trick pony. The first 10 minutes are classic, and the rest was rather ordinary by the numbers detective chases bad guy. I'm not quite sure if they could even make the opening seem fresh after all these years, but if it's done right, they have a shot at possibly improving the rest of the film.

They're remaking the sequel too...wtf? Why not just make a When a Stranger Calls 3? I mean I'll see the remakes but damn people give it up.

Maybe they can entitle it, "When a stranger keeps calling".

"The original "the calls are coming from inside the house" chiller"?

I thought that was Black Christmas.

Remakes..Yay!! Bring 'em on! :D :D

If it's Dawn '04 or TCM '03 quality, I don't mind too much.

Fuck hollywood and all there fucking remakes. They need to grow some balls and produce something original for a change. And do we really need ANOTHER Halloween movie? Damn! What is that like the 213283223874834th installment in the series now? :eek2:

I love watching people getting all worked up over remakes.

Honestly, what difference does it make? No one is forcing you to watch them.

And, in some cases, they open doors to other movies.

That script was beeing looked at back in 2001 by Fox studios.

When a Stranger Calls is a lame film with a reputation it doesn't deserve. When viewed after watching the immortal classic, Black Christmas, it looks all the more shitty. I don't like the film, and unless they make significant changes, I definitely won't like the remake either.

'looked at' doesn't mean they were gonna make the film

Exactly!

What people fail to realize is for every TCM remake that makes a lot of money, another horror movie is made because of it.

You have to take the good with the bad, although TCM 2003 was damn good.

The first ten minutes are great and the last ten minutes are great. Skip the rest of the movie at all costs. It plays like a 70s tv movie of the week. I actually think this is one movie where the remake could be better than the original. Unlike that shitty idea to remake Black Christmas. As Linda Day screams out in the movie Pieces: " Bassssstard Bassssssstard"

Hollywood desperately needs new ideas and franchises instead of trying to remake every movie released in the last 20 years they. Apparently Hollywoods think tank has run out of gas. You can tell that holllywood has run out of ideas when they start releasing sequels to movies that were released more than a decade ago. (i.e. Dirty Dancing II is a recent example.)

When a Stranger Gets a Busy Signal?

I am so, SO damn sick of remakes! I would rather pay to see the originals brought back to the big screen than these hack jobs (for the most part) brought out to capitalize on the name recognition.

There's a good idea. The only problem with this is that you just know there is going to be a new cut or something with either crappy scenes that were cut out of the movie because they sucked (Alien: Directors Cut), or a special edition which includes newly shot scenes and lots of crappy cgi (Star Wars). These people just can't leave good movies alone.

I thought the first 20 minutes of When a stranger calls is the best first 20 minutes in Horror film history. After that is does go down hill (thought i don't think it's as much filler as people suggest) and doesn't put up again for untill the last ten minutes. Saying that thought i am curouis to see how they handle the middle portion of the film.

That's why I think that it's not a bad idea to remake this movie. Almost anything is better than the middle hour of the original. I thought it was incredibly boring and I was just not interested. I heard good things about this movie and was let down when I finally saw it. Wow, I can't believe I am actually supporting a remake of any movie.
