Everyone lists there favorites, so now I want to know, what is the worst horror movie you have ever seen? I'm not talking about a film that's so bad that you enjoy it. I'm talking about a film that left a bad taste in your mouth.

For me it was American Gothic. If anyone liked this film, I would sure as hell like to know why.

Also I posted a link to a review for the new Suspiria LE dvd on the Euro-Horror forum.

Now, let me know, what really sucks?

one of the worst films i ever saw was EVIL TOWN, a shitty piece of garbage, starring John Carradine.

The all time worst? Thats a hard one, but I would have to say that "The Howling: New Moon Rising" was the absolute worst thing I have ever had the misfortune to lay my eyes on. And sadly I watched the whole thing. Thses days, if a movie isn't at least somewhat interesting, I don't even watch it all. Whats the point, you know.

Yup, there's my vote.

Worst Horror Film Ever Made...

"The Howling: New Moon Rising"

Death Mask was pretty bad. At least i remember it was bad. I actually own it because I got it for free, but I can't bring myself to try and watch it again. Linnea Quigley was in it so I guess that's something of a redeeming value.

The Texas Chansaw massacre new generation or some crap like that

it's the one with renee zellwegger...

i got angry after i saw that film. i wanted the 2hrs of my life back

Call me a masochist, but I didn't mind American Gothic.:D
I found the family to be a bit creepy and Steiger's over the top performance was a hoot. Nothing great, but watchable, IMO.

My pick for worst horror film goes to SANTA CLAWS. Even the flesh on display couldn't help this lump of coal. Repeat after me: Russo is a fucking hack.
Necropolis takes second place. What a piece of garbage! A blank VHS contains more entertainment value.

No film has ever made me feel like simultaneously showering, vomitting, crapping and crying to The Fates more than that steaming, stinking piece of cat shit Fatal Frames
Hands down the most insulting excuse for a film I have ever been subjected to.

Oh, come on Mario, it aint so bad! It's the "Plan 9 From Outer Space" of italian giallo!
Worst horror movie, heh?
It must be HELLRAISER: INFERNO

I would have to agree there, LOL, love the comparrision btw. Too funny.

Oh yeah, Chaoster... Hellraiser: Inferno did suck ass! But as much as I loathe this cinematic extrement, I still say it comes in just after Howling New Moon Rising as worst of all time.

Has anyone else seen, Howling 7? Just curious what others thought about it.

i own a copy of "Howling: New Moon Rising" on vhs (please forgive me). but little did i know when i bought this stinker a couple of years ago.

the only thing worse than this film was its soundtrack! cheap-ass country tunes to puke by.

they should retitle this film "Old Shit Rising"

I'd have to say Gates of Hell part 2 ranks up there with the worst if not the absolute worst.....its one of those movies that when you watch it you immediatly start to get sleepy and or get a headache....looks like it was filmed with a camcorder.

However another movie I saw that was real bad was Night of the Zombies 2.

Hellbilly
08-17-2001, 09:01 PM
i never heard of GATES OF HELL 2 or NIGHT OF THE ZOMBIES 2
did i miss something? more info please!

Yeah, Gates of Hell 2 was put out on that Creature Feature VHS label. I didn't dare see it, I like City of the Living Dead too much.

Worst movie, worst movie........hmmmm......Jugular Wine? No there's worse...........ummmm..........Jason Takes Manhattan? Nah. Dammit, I have no idea. Fright Night? Howling 2 was bad enough, I'm not even going to TRY renting New Moon Rising. BREEDERS sucked, the 70's one. I dunno, a lot of movies suck, but these last few swallow.

You didn't like Frightnight? It wasn't great, but I found it enjoyable. I find it interesting that Marcy from Married with Children is in it. Of course I saw Frightnight a very long time ago, I might agree with you if I saw it now.
I just rememberd one that I had forgotten, Redneck Zombies. I thought with a title like this and being from Troma I knew what to expect. Man was I wrong. It's shot on video and the acting gives new meaning to the word bad. This film makes Robot Monster look like Schindler's List. Very bad.

Andrew
08-18-2001, 03:56 AM
Tons of people LOVED Fright Night, but I really didn't like it. Let down, big time. I guess I had to have grown up with a horror show host type person to love it, but I really don't see what's good about it.

Oh, man how could I forget Redneck Zombies? Good call keith, the acting was so bad it actually depressed me. I contemplated hanging myself for like 45 minutes after I cut that one off at the halfway mark. Also were the fat chicks in the movie supposed to be attractive? Ugh. You figure they could'vd just found some old decent looking used up pornstars to be in it at least.

My least favorite have been:

DR. GIGGLES
HELLO MARY LOU: PROM NIGHT 2
TCM: NEXT GENERATION
SHOCKER (Sorry, Wes...but this one really blew)
SLEEPWALKERS (although, Madchen Amik is a hottie)
URBAN LEGENDS
URBAN LEGENDS: FINAL CUT

and all those crappy straight-to-video sequels of CHILDREN OF THE CORN, THE HOWLING and SOMETIMES THEY COME BACK.

The Horror Show (aka: House III) deserves to be on this thread. Not even Lance "I've never met a script I didn't like." Henriksen (Good one, David.) and Brion James could save this jumbled mess of a film.

Haven't seen Hee Haw: New Moon Rising and I don't plan to.
A root canal would be more appealing.

Play Dead (Ugh!)
Howling 7: New Moon Rising (for obvious reasons)
Class of Nuke 'Em High 2 and 3 (they were a disgrace to the original)
Prom Night 4: Deliver Us from Evil
Anything by Kevin Williamson

'The Thirsty Dead'.

I can't say anymore than that for fear of dredging up the memories of watching it.

i would add Scream 3 to the list, but I don't consider it a horror film. And besides, it had Jay & Silent Bob and Carrie Fisher in it.

Does anybody else think 'Fallen' and 'Shocker' are remarkably similar?

I'd have to say NEKROMATIK from Jörg Buttgereit. That was the first movie, where I hit the Stop button after the first 30 Min.
Although it is an amateur movie, where bad acting is normal, this topped everything in bad acting. The gore is pretty good in it but sick, another reason i stopped the movie.

I was impressed with Nekromantik, not for the reasons that the movie is sick (that's just a bonus) but for the reasons that working with film on such a small budget (Super-8, etc.) takes ALOT of work, because with the cost of developing you must be very careful with takes. Many directors will use mediocre shots because they are afraid that they might not have enough money for any more takes. Nekromantik was a completely effective film for me, and quite frankly because of the reasons stated above, I am surprised they managed to pull off as good of a film as they got, BRAVO!

I love Halloween films, but <b>The Curse Of Michael Myers</b> was an abysmal film with a plot so terrible it practically ruined the series.

While I generally like Euro-horror, <b>Oasis of the Zombies</b> was probably the most boring and poorly made film I've ever seen. Even at 84 minutes, the film seemed waaaay too long.

I completely agree with those <b>Children of the Corn</b> sequels. It baffles me how many sequels were made (and are still being made), considering the first film was pretty poor to begin with.

Films like <b>Hellraiser: Bloodline</b>, <b>Critters 4</b> and <b>Leprechaun 4</b> where they take a successful franchise and put it into space have all been utterly terrible.

oasis of the zombies is definitely one of the worst movies i've ever seen. some other ones to consider (or to forget):

Cannibal Campout
Chillers
the Evil
Truth or Dare

Suicide
08-19-2001, 01:34 AM
Terrible and the 4th of each movie. Good thing Jason X will break the mold and make the tenth in the series a terrible movie set in space instead of the 4th. One can only hope.

Russo is a fucking hack.

If you don't count the sheer shock of the NOTLD Hackmaster Edition, my vote as a traditional slasher fan goes to F13 8: Jason Takes Vancouver. I can live with 30-year-old teens, but I can't live with a slasher that has no TnA or good kills.

Even dreck like Leprechaun 4 has a decent scene or two. And I liked Dr. Giggles. :D

Russo is a fucking hack :)

Worst horror movie I ever saw: Howling 2. I can't believe they went from an academy award winning classic to THAT...

And I really like Hellraiser: Inferno. Take it as it is, not just another cash-in on the oringinal. It was a good story, with good twists, and pretty disturbed. I've already watched the DVD twice.

Without a doubt, Troll 2. Possibly the worst film ever made.

...Oh and Russo's a fucking hack.

Speaking of Alan Smithee, <b>The Birds II</b> was about as bad as they come. I was also never really a fan of <b>Ghoulies</b>. I could stomache the sequels, but the first one was movie making at its worst.

My worst horror film is 1999's "THE HAUNTING". <img src="http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/images/smilies/madyellow.gif">

Totally insults the original and insults the audience.
I usually like Lili Taylor, but she is EMBARRASSING in this film. The CG in here is just ridiculous! And most important, it totally insults the original which I still find to be a great horror film!

Well, no, I actually would consider it more sci-fi. But someone else mentioned it, so I was making reference. It's cross-genre dreck. :)

if you thought the first Troll was bad you need to see Troll 2, thats one bad movie right there, but I view it as a comedy, seeing as I'm sure I could act better than anybody in the film puts it to shame.......I bet the director just hired his family or something........plus they must have been on a budget of about $50 bucks cause the Trolls, or should I say Goblins (there are no trolls in a movie called Troll 2, wierd eh? another thing on the cover of the video theres a kid holding a troll doll......we see neither the kid or the doll in the movie) just wore potato sacks and masks that looked to be from Wal-Mart

go rent the movie though, its fun to see.

I wasn't complaining. In fact, I was complimenting the film for being somewhat scarier than it had any right to be.

mcchrist -- I agree with you: Virgin Among the Living Dead was the most painfully awful movie I've ever forced myself to sit through. Granted, it's the supposedly "heavily cut" version, but geez, I can't imagine anything pulling that piece of crap from out of the toilet.

I also thought Redneck Zombies was pretty awful, but I went in expecting that, so it's not so bad...

And one I remember absolutely hating when I rented it as a kid: Mountain Motel Massacre (which was released on DVD by Anchor Bay earlier in the year, right?).

Redneck Zombies would have gotten my vote until i had see Truth or Dare.

No it isn't the Madonna title. It was this god awful movie I rent from a local vid shop. It was so bad that I thought about throwing it away just to spare other people from renting it. This idiot goes nuts, ends up in a mental hospital and makes a mask out of copper and then proceeds to go on a killing spree. The the picture on the box cover had a razorblade. Anyone else seen the atrocity?

Last time I saw BOGEYMAN I kept saying to my selfe that it's the most boring, worhtless pice of shit I have ever seen so I'm going to give that one my vote... But, as all of us, I have seen my fare share of shitty horror-movies through out the years so I might find a better candidate in the future! ;)

mcchrist

I absolutely love Truth or Dare! Worst movie should go to something that has nothing redeemable, at least movies like Truth or Dare have at least some production values (which is more than what can be said about something, like, I dunno, A Virgin Among The Living dead maybe?) or how about some humor, if there are no production values and not a very good script or acting, you can at least throw in some sight gags that are either intentionally funny or something to be made fun of, if you can at least laugh at it in a MST3K manner, then you have at least a partial success (which is more than can be said than A Virgin Among the Living Dead, which I cannot even enjoy over a six-pack).
