For all those just dying to see a sequel to Species II your prayers have been answered. On December 7th, MGM will be releasing Species III in both uncut and R-rated versions for $25.98 a piece. An airing of the film on the Sci-Fi channel will predate the release a couple weeks on November 27th. Also to promote the new DVD will be a new special edition of the original ground breaking Natasha Henstridge hit. Although Henstridge was the star of the first two films, her role this time will be reduced to the cameo, as the film tries to take a new direction. Stay tuned for the full details, and thanks to DavisDVD for the news.

Why is it considered "ground breaking"?

All those people smashing thier skulls against the pavement after seeing it perhaps? :D

The damnable thing is, I'm going to be buying all three.

"Species" was good .... I don't know if it was "ground breaking", but it was good.

Gotta love the publicity department. :D

Uh...its the only film to feature Gandhi and Natasha Henstridge's breasts? Natasha is from the little northern Canadian city I am from, so I guess that was my part in feeding her a little lip service. Still, it was responsible for spawning a number of sci-fi women empowerment alien flicks.

The first one was pretty decent but nothing too spectacular. It had a decent plot and some nifty effects, nothing more than that though, nothing I would call "ground breaking."

This one doesn't really interest me much. I think I'll pass on this.

Will be buying the first one in its SE form... stayin away from part 3 me thinks. Maybe a rental is in order though.

I had no idea there was going to be another one. I thought the first was scripted and shot like a TV movie with T & A, but part 2 wasn't bad. Straight to video is never a good sign.

So let me get this straight, you want to pay lip service to Natasha Henstridge's breasts? Me too! :D

i'll pick up the SE for the first one, and maybe i'll rent the 3rd one. After seeing the sequel, its kinda hard to have any kind of high expectations for a new one.

The sequel just felt like a big budget B-movie to me, and I enjoyed it somehow. I'll atleast rent the third one, and if it's good I'll buy all three.

I hated both the original and the sequel, so I'll have no problem skipping this release.

I will be getting the SE DVD for the 1st one, but I hold off for part 3 unless there are tons of great reviews.

I'll be getting this one. Big fan of the first one and the sequel was goofy but fun. Natasha Henstridge, mmmmmm...

What was ground breaking about it? Jesus wept, how many other films have you seen a slicked up naked Natasha Henstridge slide upside down out of a cockcoon? :p I still get a woodie thinking of that... What more do you want?

:D

Yah know - this wasn't terrible. And the DV is only a problem in the climax. There is a fight in a lab that doesn't work at all, but really, acceptable.
