ok so today i go in best buy to pick up the 2 disc lost boys. they had like 20 copies on the shelf all marked 27.99 except for 2 copies marked 9.99 next to each other so i quickly grabbed it and practically ran to the register. the dude rang it up and said the total was 29 something. im like the dvd said 9.99 so then the manager came and argued with the poor dude like he did something wrong. then he walked over to the shelf and brought back 4 copies marked 9.99 and replaced them all with 27.99. they gave me mine for 10 bucks thank god which was a kick ass deal. has anyone else had a previous experience like this?

I remember when I bought the Nightmare on Elm Street collection at Best Buy, there were 3 on the shelf. The first one was around 70 bucks or so, and the others were somewhere in the 90's. So naturally I took the one for 70 to the register and bought it. Best Buy can be great sometimes :)

I remember once saving about $25 on a software suite due to one on the shelf being mispriced.
I've seen things overpriced at Best Buy quite a bit too.

Cool.......
By law, they have to give you the sticker price. I've seen a few DVDs that had different pricing, but it's all in the computer when they scan it. For me, I've always only been charged the lower price. In those cases, it's a price reduction, and they've changed their computer, but they just haven't changed all the stickers.

Heh, yeah. I got the Naked Lunch Criterion DVD set for $6.99 awhile back due to a misprice at another store. Also got the "V" TV-series boxset for $8.00 due to a pre-order misprice online. It rules when that happens!

The same thing happened when I picked up DELIVERANCE. That DVD is already pretty darn cheap, but someone had (obviously) placed a $7.99 sticker on top of the original $17.99 one. This new one was even placed upside down! And it was the only one on the shelf (about 7 in all) with the $7.99 sticker tag. This was at Future Shop, and even though it rang in first at $17.99, I mentioned the sticker said $7.99 so he altered the register to give it to me at the cheaper price. No big deal really... but I bet he figured that I was the one who ripped the $7.99 tag off of something else and stuck it to this DVD.

Not so easy to change stickers at Best Buy. They've got the title printed on their price tags. At least they do in Canada.

Yeah. This was at Future Shop with their older-style "circle" tags. But I've noticed that now they've switched over to the print-out tags that have the title, price, sku#, ect (same as Best Buy).

Best Buy owns Futureshop...
My favourite was buying the two disc Manhunter at Futureshop and getting it for ten bucks cheaper than the sticker price...they had changed the price but hadn't changed the stickers yet.

Yeah, Best Buy usually makes mistakes with the pricing. Now, I never buy a DVD from there without checking to make sure there isn't a lower price tacked on to an odd package or two.

The best misprice I ever got was at Suncoast. I found out about it on the www.dvdsavant.com bargains forum. They had the Firefly boxed set on pre-order for $19.99 when the list was $49.99. I didn't think they'd honor it when the dvd was released, but they did!! I was going to wait on that set, but at that price, I didn't, and I'm so happy I got it in my hands, since it's one of my favorite dvd sets! Loved that series and the boxed set offered never released episodes and a handful of extras and commentaries.

The best I ever did for a wrong price was at FYE in the mall. They had the John Woo 2 pack with Hard Boiled and the Killer, and one had a $14.99 sale tag on it. All others had no sale tag and were $39.99.
I took it up to the counter and told the clerk I doubt the sale was really on this, but he said if the sticker is there, then that's how much it is. I bought it and sold it to a friend for a couple bucks over what I paid since I have the criterion versions.
Those sale stickers at FYE are easy to remove and replace, if I wasn't an honest guy, I could get all my discs cheap as fuck!
I've found more than a few dvds with wrong price tags at BB as well, but only bought 1 or 2. I did get over on an extra copy of Big Trouble In Little China 2 disc. They had the single discs advertised on sale for $9.99 (Fight Club as well). I tryed to get both, but got denied on FC since it had different artwork on the cover. They wern't gonna give me BT either, but since the artwork was the same (except the SE banner), they caved in and did it after asking 2 managers.

For future reference. I'm curious what you guys say in this situation, how the conversation goes. Do they initially try to convince you out of it, or do they give in easily, as I myself am going to watch for mis-priced items now too...
Great find! http://horrordvds.com/vb3forum/images/icons/icon14.gif
I got the first season of Soap for 5.99. Ever since then, I always check the other discs to see if there are any lower priced tags. :D

That's exactly what I do. I always wonder if people think I'm a mental patient when they see me going through every copy of a single title.

i doubt he thought you were the one who did it, since the practice of removing pricetags and replacing them on another product is considered shoplifting and at my store if someone is caught doing that they are prosecuted. of course, you have to catch the person doing it. While it is law to honor pricetags on product, if its obvious that the label was replaced by another customer, the store doesnt need to honor it. we've had people bringing a 36" tv to the registers with a 19.99 open box yellow tag sloppily stuck to it. Just to prove the point, we punched in the sku:# on the tag and it rang up as a cheap portable cd player. The manager asked him, "does this look like a portable cd player to you?" He said that he would pay full price but had to get more money from his car, so he left the store but never came back

Never take your honest wife to the store with you. I almost got a DVD for half price (struggling to remember the title) - but I recall with crystal clarity my wife saying: "That rang up incorrectly, can you check the price?" Of course, I ended up paying more. Even the fricking clerk was looking at us as though we were lunatics. :(

Good God I thought I was the only one who did this!! I HATE when the covers are all crooked in there, cause you know when you take off the stickers that they WELD on to the case, you're gonna rip the cover in the process if it isn't neatly in its exact case
That's cool. Not alls stores will allow that. A similar incident happened to me at either Best Buy or Frys, and I don't recall what the price was, or the movie - it was quite a while ago. Anyway, they denied me and quite frankly, I was pissed! I debated and argued, made some very resonable points and...no dice. I thought the customer was always right!

People must think I'm have super OCD because as I'm looking for price mistakes I'm also looking for damage free discs.

I was at our local Wal-mart and decided to purchase The Lost Boys 2 disc set for around $22.00. When they scanned it, the price of $5.50 came up. Who was I to argue. The cashier had no idea.

maybe 5.50 was the price for the old single disc version and it rang up as that. thats what i think happened at best buy. the special edition rang up as the price of the single disc.

That's funny. I do that to all DVDs I buy in the store if they have more than one copy. People are probably wondering what kind of freak I am when they walk past and I have like five or six copies in my hands.

I do the same shit and get the same looks. It just happened with Goodfellas SE. Every copy at BB had the cover pulled way up, so I knew the title strip would rip off part the cover. After sifting through about 50 copies, I found ONE that was in there right, and of course it was the last one I saw.
