This is my first time watching the Dawn remake and I enjoyed it :)
Still love the original but I thought this update wasn't too bad.
Anyways, I picked up the German R2 DVD release two weeks ago and finally gave it a spin today.
Pop in the disc and you get to choose between the English or German version. Nice animated menu. There's an introduction by director Zack Snyder explaining a bit about his director's cut. Basically, he's just saying there's more character and much more gore.
And lots of cool gore there is :)
Dawn is presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen. Print looks nice & clean. Audio is 5.1 DD and wasn't bad either. Extras include audio commentary which I haven't checked out yet and a few deleted scenes with audio commentary option. All scenes (about 8 I think) were cut for pacing. Nothing really spectacular though. Then there's a video diary by "Andy" which goes on a bit too long for my taste.
A few (each about 20 minutes) behind-the-scenes / making-of about the special effects (exploding heads, zombie make-up, zombie attack etc), complete footage of the faux news reels that are shown in the movie plus a Shaun Of The Dead (in English) Trailer. Nice DVD, fun flick.
