So what did you buy today...and shed some light on your picks for Tuesday Sept. 28/04
I picked up three titles:
Christine: SE...one of my favorite Carpenter films. The compositions, editing, and performances are first rate.
Club Dread: unrated...not a great film, but I have to see it unrated. It's kind of fun.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (haven't seen it yet, but looks like fun)
couldn't find:
Homicide: Season 5...best show ever, IMO. And season 5 is startling. MUST FIND IT SOON.
held off on:
Super Size Me...great friggin' film, but I'm in a junk food mood lately, and I don't want to feel so guilty

Although I haven't purchased any titles today, I like the idea behind your thread and perhaps every Tuesday you or someone else could just change the date in the title. Anytime I do make a purchase I'd love to get involved in a thread like this.

First, a correction. Today is the 28th, not the 29th. :)
Second, I didn't buy any DVDs in the store today, but I did get a couple of new releases (for the week of Sept. 28) in the mail yesterday from DVD Empire.
Children of the Corn (Divimax: 20th Anniversary Special Edition)
Christine (Special Edition)

Right on Savini...I was thinking the same thing as I started it. I'm always looking for who bought what on Tuesdays. We could start a new one each week, possibly.

I like the idea behind this thread as well. Didn't buy anything today, but a couple days ago I got the Dawn boxed set at FYE... it was on sale for $37!

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that indiephantom's idea behind this thread is to have you give a reason why you made a particular purchase, not just what titles you got. I'm sure the reasons could be anywhere from "I got it 'cause it was cheap and I'm a tight-ass", to something deep and philisophical. ;)
I have not bought anything today, but I plan on picking up Thriller: A Cruel Picture this Friday because I am looking for any and all inspirations to Kill Bill, not to mention it looks like a cool flick. (I think that was released today) The Christine SE is calling my name as well.

Well, I don't know what to say other than I really like both of the films. :) I previously owned both of the barebones discs, but because I like to keep my collection up-to-date with the best editions, I sold them and purchased the SEs. The same thing with Friday the 13th. I owned all 8 individual discs, but I sold them last Friday and (pre)ordered the box set.

Today, Tuesday the 28th, I bought a sandwich and that was because you need food to live.
Ordered Thriller: A Cruel Picture online, and will be picking up Children of the Corn, Christine, Creepshow 2, Envy, and maybe Club Dread. Also, there's a movie called, "The incredibly strange creatures who stopped living and became crazy mixed up zombies" being released today. Anyone familier with it? Is it any good?

Ordered Christine SE from DDD today, so that's kinda like getting it (I just can't watch it for a week). Love Carpenter's films and this needed a SE.
I should be getting Thiller in the mail by the end of week, that just looked cool and since it inspired KB and said LE, I figured I better check it out. Plus it was cheap at DDD.
Also picked up Chappelle's Show from the library. My big "Fuck You" to Paramount continues as I will no doubt dub these before returning them since I probably won't get a chance to watch em all within the week.

didn't buy anything. after i pay rent on the first i'll pick up Thriller: A Cruel Picture, and Strangers With Candy Season 3. The first, because i'm curious. the second, because its one of the greatest shows EVA!
I did rent some stuff today though. Shaolin Soccer because the description on the back makes me laugh. 2LDK because the description on the back makes me laugh. And A Short Film About Killing because Kieslowski is a movie making God.

Christine SE - One of my favorite films. Great acting and direction. I can't wait to check out the extras.
Lady Terminator - I own all of the Mondo Macabro discs and have been pleased with the product they release. This one looks like alot of fun.

I bought CANNONBALL, because David Carridine and Paul Bartel rock, and I love Death Race 2000. If this is even half as good, then I'll be very happy. :)

I bought Christine SE, because of the extras. Next week I am going to buy Friday The 13th Box Set. Only have enough money for Friday the 13th. In a few weeks I will buy Return Of The Living Dead, Part 2

Today I picked up Christine Special Edition, Creepshow 2 Divimax Edition and Children of the Corn Divimax Edition. I own all the orginal discs but I really wanted the new extras and I like having the best editions possible. Also Christine and Creepshow 2 are favorites of mine. I still need to pick up Thriller: A Cruel Picture though.
I bought Rosemary's Baby & Dead Alive at Coconuts because they are both on sale for $9.99, plus when you buy 2 there's a $5 mail-in rebate... Big list of movies are on the $9.99 buy 2, get $5 rebate list... like Elm St 1-3, Donnie Darko, Pet Semetary, NOTLD, and a bunch more.
Plus I work there so I can get 30% off all music & DVDs, but not on top of sale prices.... It just worked out that the sale prices were cheaper on this deal today. But it DOES come in handy when I special order something! lol

It's better than nothing. It was released to DVD six years ago now and was ported over from laserdisc, so compared to what it'd look like if someone released it today, it looks terrible. Other than that though, it's serviceable. I'd say pick it up. Who knows how long it'll be before Corman decides to do a special edition? Could be years!
