Does anybody know if the opening sequence for Graduation Day off the Troma DVD has been re-edited? I don't recall how the opening credits sequence originally ran, but it seems to me that the music and titles have been reedited for this Troma release because there is no audible background noise and it looks as though it's a series of sequences from the film spliced together and the music has been changed. I dunno, it just doesn't look right.

Troma rarely (read never as far as I know) cuts film for anyreason....mainly because it costs money. Whatever's on the DVD is what's found on the original master print.

Didn't they cut Class Of Nuke 'Em High on the DVD?

For "Class of Nuke Em High", they added 'kit reel' scenes and called them "director's cut". Kit reels were extra garbage scenes I cut together for foreign territories to include on their tapes if the film
was too short after they made their censor cuts. The scenes were originally rejected as being part of the main feature. They did the same
for "Toxic Avenger". Added some 'kit reel' scenes. This goes back to Troma's porn days when they had 'soft core' scenes to replace the hard core scenes in their X rated films.

Has anyone who's watched the "Graduation Day" DVD know what I'm talking about when I say the editing, music and opening credits seem rather ususual? It's rather hard to explain, but it almost looks as though the opening credits have been reedited with different music and a montage of scenes.

I remember that it opens with a cheesy song called "Everyone wants to be a winner" or something like that...with alot of slowmotion track racing going on before the girl collapses.
Is that how the dvd starts?

Yes, but there is no audio heard other than the song, the opening titles look as though they were added (similar to what you would see when a movie has been retitled for video release), and the whole opening sequence is cut together like an MTV music video. It just looks odd, especially for a film from 1981. Most noticeable was the lack of background noise (people cheering, etc).

yeah that is the way it always was, I am pretty sure anyway.

Of all the horror discs I own (nearly 300), this film has the absolute worst transfer of them all. Even Troma's Mother's Day disc looked better than this.
