Could this mean that Blue Underground will eventually release both Maniac Cop films? :)

That is what I was wondering. It seems only natural right? Why host the movies and then say, "Shame I couldn't get the rights to release these, huh?"
Oh how I would love these to get the BU treatment.

It'll suck if Lustig ends up announcing that they won't release these after all. :(
I could probably talk my dad into taking me to this, but I'm lazy so I'll probably end up not feeling like going at the last minute.

If BU does end up releasing both MC movies, that'd rock! They also need to get a hold of the rights for the third one as well! The Unrated version of it anyway. If anyone goes, ask him that question if someone else hasn't and report back to us :)

it'd be neat to see Maniac Cop in a new release (with all the AB extras) and throw MC 2&3 on a double feature disc.

MC II and III are still easy enough to find on DVD, although the only uncensored version of MC II seems to be the German DVD.
MC I on my DVD doesn't have any extras such as the commentary, but it does have 10 minutes of more footage. :o)

Elite put out the original Maniac Cop DVD not AB.

I hear ya. The Elite DVD was released very early in terms of DVD, probably early 98 and since technology has improved vastly with the likes of Anamorphic transfers and such, I know this film would look lights years ahead of what we currently have to deal with. Not only that but the Elite DVD has been OOP for ages.

I'm so glad I bought that Elite disc just before it went OOP. If the website didn't lie to me, I got the last one from DVDEmpire a few years back. I'd still love to up-grade to a better transfer and sound and maybe a few new extras. They need to keep the commentary, maybe do a new one to put along side it.
I'm pretty suprised that BU hasn't re-visited this title. I would've guessed this getting a new disc before Uncle Sam. Lustig not being able to get the rights back is the only thing that makes sense in that aspect. I'm sure Elite or whoever has em right now won't hold em forever though.

That's weird because I enjoyed Maniac Cop 3 a hell of a lot more than Uncle Sam. :eek2:

SAME HERE
I saw the Maniac Cop double feature at Two Boots in New York this October and the audio on part two was so bad we nearly left 15 minutes in. Bill was there and, I believe, supplied the prints, so hopefully whatever the problem was has been taken care of. The original is one of my favourites and Bill is real cool, so it ended up being a good night, but I figured I'd give a heads up. Good luck!

My copy of Maniac Cop is from Legacy Entertainment (whoever that is). I don't know, it was released in 2003. I picked it up for $5 at Best Buy. Shitty quality with nada for extras, oh well great movie. I would buy a box set in a heartbeat!

If Legacy's dvd is legit on their end, then the title is probably public domain. Unless Lusting needed a few bucks for strippers or drinks and sold the rights to them, or maybe someone at Elite needed a few bucks and sold em.
MMMMM, forgot all about that dvd version, the plot thickens.
