Yeah, this flick's hilarious. Even though the guy's eating (and killing) all these prostitutes, he's like a stand-up comedian. Does anyone here remember the over-sized VHS box that had a microwave on the front? There was a button you could press and then the lights on the microwave would light up!! CLASSIC!!

Good movie. I rented the tape when I was like 8 years old, but my old man didn't approve so he yanked it from the VCR somewhere around the half way mark. A while later I got to see it in its entirety. I'd definitely pick up the dvd.

Unfortunately mine doesn't light up, but oh well it's still an awesome movie. I mean who wouldn't like a film where the voice of Frosty the Snowman goes around eating young girls?

I have always loved this film. I bought a dvd-r of it at a convention but it really needs a good release with some cool special features.

I saw this movie a long, long time ago (late-80s). I recently had a disagreement with my brother over this film. He said the main character was played by Jackie Mason. I know this isn't true. Who is the star and why is he semi-famous?

The Star was Jackie Vernon,a stand up comedian,i also think he was the voice for frosty the Snowman

"Bones, bones! Nothing but bones!"

I remember seeing that at a drive-in when I was a wee lad in the early 80's. I wouldn't mind seeing it again. It's been over 20 years since I've seen it.

DVD Pacific (http://www.dvdpacific.com/item.asp?ID=714001) is listing it for a March 14th release to DVD.

It looks like Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EBGFP4/) and CD Universe (http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7037876) are listing it as well.

Anthem Pictures? Hmm...never heard of 'em, but they do have a webpage about it, and even a trailer: http://www.anthemdvd.com/catalog/microwave_massacre/synopsis.htm

Supposedly it will be Uncut.

One of the most enjoyable "Bad" movies ever! HAHA!
I first saw this in the Mid-80's and I always remember the sandwich with the crab on a huge bun that his wife makes him! For some reason that's the only part I can really remember. Should be fun to take a trip down memory lane with the upcoming DVD.

I suppose this is the original cover/poster for the movie:

http://www.horreur.net/img/microwavemassacre.jpg

And here's the cover of an old VHS tape in high-res:
http://www.itsonlyamovie.co.uk/COVERS%2011/MICROWAVE%20MASSACRE.jpg

Is it so expensive to acquire the rights to use the original cover/poster art in the DVD ???

Ah yes, that was the art on the Aussie video cover. I for one can't wait for this DVD.

I'll second that Bwana. This movie's always had a very fond place in my heart. Definitely one of the best bad movies ever. Funny in almost every scene. I love the constrtuction worker buddies.

I remember (on this board) the guy from Code Red DVD said that he had observed that someone was doing an all-new video transfer from the original negative...could this be it? Crappy cover or not, the transfer could really shine.

Trivia: What was the priceless name of the street band?

gunner

Wow, old thread. "Le Fried Pipers" is the trivia answer (who cares).
Anyway, I was fully expecting a delay, but, I just got shipping confirmation on the new dvd of Microwave Massacre from Amazon!! I don't want to fully let the cat out of the bag but this new digital transfer should indeed be most pleasing. Honestly, it's been far too long since I've been this excited about a dvd release. I can remember years and years ago praying for a laserdisc.

Franco, Uncanny. That vhs cover looks nothing like jackie vernon...with your avatar right beside the scan for reference...it looks kinda like you looking into that microwave!! Seriously. lol

Got the disc yesterday. A little disappointed. I'm happy to report that it is the uncut "midnight video" version. And the new colorful full-frame transfer is quite a jump over anything ever seen on home video for this title...but it seems a tad green around the gills to be sourced from an original negative.
The big downer for me is (quote from packaging) "Special Features: Absolutely None. Nada. Zip. Zilch." Now, that's not entirely true...there is a newly cut trailer included (!). But Anthem recorded two seperate commentary tracks. One from director Wayne Berwick, and the other from co-producer Craig Muckler. These were apparently not completed in time and wound up off this release to avoid a date delay #*&@%. Anthem says a new special edition might be in the horizon. But who knows how reliable that is.
