I don't know what the deal is with all the delays, but if this is the end result I'm a little pissed off.

First off despite what is found on the case, the movie IS NOT widescreen 1.85:1 but rather panned and scanned.

Not full frame, P&S. You can't even see Kelly Jo Minter's full name during the end credits.

Second and more disturbing for me is that the print is horrible. Dark, grainy, gittery, it looks like they took an old PAL copy of the original video release and made the transfer with it.

It is actually worse to my eyes then Full Moon's Trancers.

I would expect this is Diamond released this, but this as you know is Elite. They should know better.

Oh yeah, the only extras are a bunch of TV spots all of which look better then the movie itself.

Save your money unless you're a die hard Toby fan...

I asked around on another message board and was told:I did receive my copy today and it is 1.85:1 and anamorphic. I just watched a couple of minutes but it looked good to me.

So what's th' deal? I haven't seen a review online yet.

Make sure your dvd player setup is on 4:3 widescreen not 4:3 pan and scan. This happened to me on my tourist trap dvd. A few dvds can adjust thierselves to what your player is set to. Always leave it on 4:3 widescreen (letterbox) that way widscreen movies always show correctly. Pan and scan or fullframe movies always show up in pan and scan no matter what the setting. Try it.

Yep. That happened to me with Criterion's Last Temptation.

This is a very real problem. it happened to me when I first got my player and I poped in my copy of Argento's Phantom of the Opera. Without the proper settings, the picture is off ballace, grainy and darker then normal. Believe me I was furious and had a rep on the phone from the online retailer I'd gotten the dic from ASAP (actually after holding an hour). I felt like an ass when I found out it was something I had not looked into, but now I know. I hope betterdan's suggestion helps you out man, because I am fully aware of the frustration and anger felt durring and after such a situation.

Bingo.

Looks like that was the problem. For whatever reason, the DVD player I have in my bedroom didn't play it in widescreen while both my playing in the main room and one at my friend's place displayed it 1.85:1 widescreen.

The picture still looks off and faded though.

This is the first time my original player ever did this.

Sorry for the rant...

Elite's House on Sorority Row also sometimes triggers this problem. So maybe it's something in the way they master some of their discs?
