His character was played by Ron Jeremy in the hardcore remake, "The Texas Dildo Masquerade".

Damn, what a shame. While most find the character annoying, I think Franklin rules. R.I.P.

I loved that performance. One of the most realistic ever put on screen, in my opinion. How many supposedly hot/handsome do you really know? Of those, how many of them spend all of their time striking poses in the latest fashions while managing to spew forth endless streams of faux witticisms and eye-rolling pop culture references?
I have always enjoyed Franklin because he's unattractive and pitiful, but his behavior is so immature and selfish that you never feel TOTALLY sorry for him. Yet, you're still apalled when he ...(I don't know how to use spoiler tags, but most of you know what goes here). I think more movies would be scary/funny/dramatic/engaging if they had more people like Paul Partain playing more parts like Franklin.
Too bad he became one of those short-lived character actors; Hollywood should have used him more, or at least the indie system that has flourished since TCM.

His performance was one of my all time favorites--from what I've read it sounded like he stayed in character all the time while they were shooting. He explained that the character was just so annoying that he was afraid to step out of character because if he did he might not be able go back to being Franklin.

I also remember reading that he made Tobe Hooper go down the hill in the wheelchair before agreeing to do that opening scene where he takes a fall.

RIP.

The movie is one of the "rawest" ever made. Franklin's death was out of nowhere and led into the film's best scene. He made the character, and he should be remembered. Adios.

This is sad. TCM has always been one of my favorites, one of the few films I do NOT like watching in the dark (esp. the 2nd half), and I'm man enough to admit it! I've never seen him in anything else but I may just have to do a little research. RIP.

The "rasberry" scene in TCM is one of my favorites in film history. RIP Mr. Partain.
