Hey Everyone,
Does anyone know of anywhere on the net where I can get the 3 hour cut of Needful Things or does anyone here have a copy ?.
I don't know about anyone else here but this is a criminally underated movie, my favorite King adaption behind Salem's Lot and one
movie that desperately needs a special edition release.

Grease Guy : Four pounds of grease...that comes to 63 cents.
Homer : Woo Hoo.
Bart : Dad, all that bacon cost 27 dollars.
Homer : Yeah, but your mom payed for that.
Bart : But doesn't she get her money from you.
Homer : And I get my money from grease, what's the problem.

yeah there is a 3hr cut but it was shown on tbs , here is what i found on imdb .com:
On May 22, 1996, TBS aired Needful Things in a four-hour timeslot. This was done to showcase an hour of excised footage that director Fraser Heston was forced to cut. This extra footage, which includes more of the citizens of Castle Rock and their lives, brings the total run to three hours. The character of Cora Rusk, played by Lisa Blount, is shown in more than passing.

One of my favorite King adaptations as well. I'd heard about the TBS version but have never seen it. I would be more than happy to shell out hard earned cash for an unrated director's cut of this one.

But won't they edit it for content?
Someone will release it eventually.

There's not really much to edit out. I used to have it on tape all edited together nicely sans commercials. I'd offer it to you but I recently threw out most of my VHS tapes. With that one I was under the same assumption you are. It'll come out officially eventually.

Damn :( . Unfortunately I live in Australia and don't get TBS but I'm glad to see everyone's optimism that the 3 hour cut will one day get a proper DVD release.
I pretty much gave up hope when the reissued DVD just had the 2 hour cut and trailer ( which BTW has scenes from the 3 hour cut like Gaunt's car crashing and a truck about to run over Brian Rusk ). Can anyone mention what other significant scenes happen in the longer version ?.

I read an older Video Watchdog article that the Director is happy with the Theatrical cut as it is. He only added extra scenes for TV so I guess we will never see any Director's approved extended version with commentary on DVD.

I didn't know there was a 3 hour version either. Would like to see this one, though.

Well, if you haven't ordered yet I should have a damn good quality copy of this lying around. I got it a few years back, and still haven't watched it. I could send you a copy seeing how it's "the season" and all.
Love that cover! Much better than the cover I've seen on DVD and VHS.

Netflix carries the regular 120 minute version of this. Shame on me for not watching this movie at all. being a fan of many of his adaptations I am sure to like it.
