I actually enjoyed...it is corny...but fun. I first saw it when I was a kid, and remembered loving it so I picked up the VHS at K-Mart back in the early 90's. A friend of mine just picked up a widescreen DVD-R off ebay. I am looking forward to checking it out again.

Is that the one with Cathy Lee Crosby, if so corny but fun to watch.

That's the one with the humanoid alien that shoots lasers from its eyes running amok in California, it's not a great film, but worth seeing once. Reminded me a bit of Nightbeast, but better.

Save your money on the DVD-R, a widescreen version is coming soon from a very reputable company soon.

I'd love to see the original version, or even all the footage directed by Tobe Hooper.

But I doubt it's going to happen.

The Dark is a really good flick.

Why doesn't someone get on the horn and release the original Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark in a good special edition on dvd? Only 2 of the main stars are still alive, with Kim Darby being up there in years. They should do commentary/interviews pronto!

I hear from a good authority thatthe DVD will have a interview with the director, and a audio commentary with the director and Scott (INTRUDER) Spiegel and one of his long time friend.

Yeah,The Dark isn't too bad. Better than most the drivel pouring into theatres with PG-13 all over them.

I just rented this the other night. I figured that it would be the worst movie ever. Well, it wasn't, but it sucked ass. They should have just left this as the Tobe Hooper zombie movie or whatever it was orginally going to be. So, no, I think that this movie sucked and I do not reccomend it. All the cops in the movie are dicks and you wish they'd get killed, and William Devane (or whatever his name is) sucked as the middle aged hippie who wears a those damn sunglasses throughout the entire movie, even when he's driving at night in his new corvette! Luckily for Hooper, he got to do the better Salem's Lot the same year instead of finishing this piece of shit.

Now I can't wait!! I'm sick of my stretched-image VHS!!!! I have the paperback book and it's better but nothing can compete with that TRUE late '70's ambiance. This is a double-dip for me. One for viewing and one for the archives.

It's coming from Media Blasters, and I don't know if I'd call them a reputable company (or at least not a reliable one) at this point.
