I wouldn't say that. CHRISTMAS EVIL was made the same year.

But in regards to this film, I think it's a fun little slasher. The video transfer is rather horrid, especially during the night scenes, but I suppose it's better than nothing. Happy to have this one in my (now rather small) VHS collection. :)

Count me in as another one who transferred this vhs to dvdR. The transfer is pretty crappy, but I still watch it sometimes.

As with most other films released by Media Home Entertainment (Terror On Tour, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc.) To All a Goodnight was given a horribly dark VHS transfer when originally released. Hopefully someone will release this on DVD soon and give it a decent, brighter transfer.

I used My SONY GX3 burner and increased the brightnes and contrast to max levels and recorded one dvd, played that and recorded a new dvd with the same settings, and then re-recorded the "retouched" disc and recorded it again

the result was actually pretty good

not pre recorded quality or anything but on certain VHS casettes you can do this and the picture actually improves

I have done it on
bloodstalkers, to all a goodnight, bloodtracks, the prey, and humoungous so far
the only one that didnt turn out much better was blood tracks

This was a decent flick, but it didn't have practically any blood at all! And this is a movie directed by David Hess! You think there'd at least be some decent gore. But not in this one.....

I was fooled by the back of the box that mentioned an "exciting chase scene". It never happened, but the film was watchable. I remember being really charmed by Jennifer Runyon who I think should have gone onto much more popular films afterward. I think I rented this on the last day of school in early summer 1984. I know we played it more than once, too. This and MADMAN make a good double-feature as they have that same "feel".

Jennifer Runyon was definitely a cutey. Not overly sure what I think of her acting (although anytime I say that I have to remind myself that as an actor too full of hangups and faced with too many obstacles to make a go of it, at least she was out there doing things and got roles) but she did make frequent appearances in many movies of the mid-late 80's/early 90's...

I think she was the female lead in "Up the Creek" with Tim Matheson, she had a memorable small role in the beginning of "Ghostbusters", and ended up doing doppelganger duty for Susan Olsen when she played Cindy Brady in the "Very Brady Christmas" television movie.

I liked Jennifer Runyon on CHARLES IN CHARGE as a regular on the first season.

Yeah! What's funny is that in 9th grade our English class had the script for the first episode of Charles in Charge. I played Charles in class. With all the talk in the script of Gwendoline Pierce being so hot, I was curious to see the show. Sure enough, she was a knockout - exactly how I imagined her.

Plenty of deaths, a small spattering of gore, and one dalliance gone wrong after another. Definitely a minor work, and very derivative of FRIDAY THE 13TH.

Best reason to see it? The prelude murder scene lasts about 50 seconds. Nothing like getting straight to the point.

Reviewed this one recently for Oh, The Horror. Not the best Christmas slasher ever, but not bad either. I liked the creepy Santa mask, but due to the horribly dark transfer (typical of Media Home Entertainment releases of the 80s), you can barely see it in many scenes.

i just watched this and was surprised.not overly gory but what's there is enough.i will admit it is dark.it would be great to get a double feature with a nother lesser known slasher.
