There are many different posters for this movie, but this one has always confused me....

The reason I'm confused is...the killer on this cover has NOTHING to do with who the killer is (wont say for those who havent seen it)....so why do u think they made that poster like that?

Not sure in this case, but in some cases poster artwork would have very little to do with the film because artist had nothing to go from, better yet the poster art may have been done like that to attract a bigger audience. (Slasher fans maybe)

Yes, in the early '80s slashers were at their peak of popularity.

I'm relieved; I thought this was going to be a question about the meaning of the end of the film. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

Check out the "Burial Ground: Nights of Terror" video sleeve with The Prowler on the cover :D

You should check out the one for Cannibal Apoclyse, they make it look like a jungle war film, when the first ten mins. are the only part remotely near a jungle.

Yes, I often wondered about this... Italian posters often seem to be recycled from other posters...
Parts of This House by the Cemetary poster seem to be taken from Sergio Martino's "Assassinio al cimitero etrusco" (aka Scorpion with Two Tails)

I saw an Indonesian poster for TOURIST TRAP that was partially the U.S. poster, and partially the poster from THE HEARSE.
By the way,I was once in a Blockbuster and picked up the vhs box of an American release of HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY.As I went to put it down,I saw another box on the shelf with the exact same artwork, only it was a totally different film, the only difference I think ,was that it was reversed,it was a mirror image of the HOUSE box.I can't quite remember what the other film was, might've been FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE.Anybody know what I'm talking about ?

I like the USA HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY Vestron VHS release. The USA one-sheet was similar but didn't have the nice blue artwork.
The posters (or video covers) for FUNERAL HOME VHS and the ZOMBIE LAKE DVD have that same hand reaching up.

No,but that is a rather cool poster,I hadn't seen that one before ,thanks ! I think the one I'm thinking of had an old mansion,a knife and a skull on it(or some variation of that). That discription probably discribes a hundred posters, but these two boxes were identical, just reversed I think. .

And there's a very familiar long-haired knife dude here:

Bottom line : Cool looking posters = ticket sales.

--LOL-- That poster was used in the UK for "Beyond the Grave". There was a magazine way back when called "Monster Mag", that folded out to a 3 foot by 2 foot poster. I have all of those :) One of the issues was the poster above.
