Ok, I have a lit of movies that I have some questions about:

- Bloody Birthday
- The Final Terror
- The Slayer
- The Dorm that Dripped Blood
- Final Exam
- Visiting Hours

I wanted to know what you guys thought of these movies (from a horror fan's point of view. Whether they're decent or not), and which edition is the best to track down. Or, which movies are WORTH tracking down. I'm probably gonna go with the UK R2 DVD of Bloody Birthday, but I've seen various versions of The Dorm that Dripped Blood and The Slayer. (I do not want to end up with a cut version.) Also, do any of you know if we're getting a R1 release of any of these movies soon? (excluding Bloody Birthday) Your help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

~Matt

I thought VISITING HOURS and THE SLAYER had been slated for region 1 release, but I'm afraid I don't know the labels releasing them offhand.

Bloody Birthday is pretty good for an 80's flick, with killer children! I have the R1 DVD of that one and it's not bad, even has an interview.

The Dorm that Dripped Blood is also known as Pranks, and has a R1 release that looks like a direct port from a VHS tape. No clue if the R2 one from Vipco looks any better...but knowing Vipco probably not.

The Slayer is pretty bad and cheesy, even for an 80's horror film. But, it's not bad to watch late at night just to laugh at it. I have the R2 Vipco DVD release that I bought really cheap...which looks like CRAP! It's been rumored to be getting a R1 release for years, and the company, Program Power, apparently went out of business or something. I think Troma actually owns the domestic rights now, but I'm not certain.

The Final Terror, Final Exam, and Visiting Hours ... haven't seen these three movies in many years, but all are pretty good from what I can recall.

Bloody Birthday: fun flick available on region 1 and 2 , 2 is anchorbay uk I enjoyed it.

- The Final Terror only on VHS as far as I know , but the VHS has decent quality worth a buy, slasher in the woods

- The Slayer somewhat supernatural "slasher" with adults, I thought it was good available on region 2 from VIPCO

- The Dorm that Dripped Blood available as "pranks" on DVD but as far as I know all versions are cut, search out the VHS if you are a fan of Bad Slashers

- Final Exam Only on VHS , the PAL VHS is much better than any -NTSC versions I've seen , worth having if you are a completest of slashers, nothing special

- Visiting Hours supposed to be released on region 1 by anchorbay in 2005 A very good flick as far as I am concened and definately worth a blind buy

OK, so far I'm gonna get Bloody Birthday on R2 (just because I like the cover art LOL), The Final Terror on VHS (I guess it's the only option). I'm not sure about The Slayer now, sounds kindof shitty. For Final Exam, I'll probably end up getting the NTSC VHS. I don't think my VCR plays PAL tapes, although I have a DVD player that supports both PAL and NTSC. (How do you know if your VCR plays PAL tapes? I don't wanna buy a tape and have it not work.) And would it be a better idea to track down The Dorm that Dripped Blood on VHS, or get the Vipco DVD? I dunno which version is more cut, knowing the BBFC. I might wait with Visiting Hours. But, aren't the rights still owned by Fox?

The Slayer has a great pitchfork kill scene. One of the best I've seen( not the whole movie , just that scene) The movie pretty decent.

- Bloody Birthday - Excellent flick, get the R1 dvd from VCI.
- The Final Terror - Great flick. I have the vhs from Vestron Video. Wonder if the now famous stars and director of the movie will talk about it.

- The Slayer - Cheesy fun, but when the killer is revealed, it looks fucking horrible. It should've stayed unseen.

- The Dorm that Dripped Blood - Cheesy fun, saw this a long time ago.
- Final Exam - I remember it being good.

- Visiting Hours - Great flick. This one needs a dvd release.

I have all of these and Bloody Birthday and Visiting Hours are my two favorites. So far, I only have Bloody Birthday on DVD. As far as I know, The Dorm That Drips Blood is the only other one on DVD, but I hear the print is horrible.

I definetly think that Visiting Hours needs that DVD release it's been scheduled to have for some time now.

I seem to recall The Slayer having a great decapitation scene involving an attic door.

I am pretty sure ALL the DVD's of pranks are cut. I just ordered the video of dorm that dripped blood because I believe it is uncut. Don't sell the Slayer short it is well worth the price of the region 2 VIPCO release

As for PAL video's I don't think there are any NTSC VHS players that play PAL , I could be wrong

Visiting Hours is listed on the Anchorbay Web site as a future release
