I just saw The Devil's Rejects at 2:00 this afternoon. Just wanted to know what everyone else thought of the movie. I thought it was a worthy sequel to House Of A Thousand Corpses. Also, there were several cameos from actors from the '70s. Ken Foree, Michael Berryman, P.J. Soles, Mary Wonorov; and Geoffrey Lewis were all in it. It was extremely brutal and gory.

Your poll doesn't really offer a whole lot of variety in views. Basically, every one of the options is my viewpoint, except I wasn't a very big fan of William Forsythe's character. I guess I did like him, but his dialogue about vengeance got annoying real quick along with the scene where he was practicing what he would say to Captain Spaulding. Pretty much everything else was great except for the film critic. I felt that was pretty much completely pointless. I can't vote in this poll however, because there really aren't any options.
In fact, I'm inclined to start a poll on "worst horrordvds poll ever", but I'm sure this one takes the cake.

I am mixed with this movie. It was definetly a disspopintment for me. It reminided me of Kill bill V1 & 2, HOTC was brutal and TDR was really slow, lame, and not esxcessively violent for the most part. I was dissapointed. hOwver, the movie was very different, and unlike any horror movie i seen be4 and i definetly need to check it out again. and plus that film critic scene, was so incredibly retarted to put that in there.
this movie was such a let down for the most part. it was advertised as the most shocking brutal picture ever. this movie ripped off last house on the left. The Devils Rejects is the biggest letdown since The Village

Pretty good flick. Not everything I was hyped for but 100 times better than anything Hollywood has cranked out in the last 5 years. I'll be eager to see the extras on the DVD release. The cameos were very fun for the horror fan.

Answer 5: "After surviving 20 minutes of the worst antimovie of the last decade, 'House of 1000 Corpses', I would rather drill my teeth with a paper clip than watch the sequel".

I dug the hell out of "The Devil's Rejects" myself. No, it wasn't by any measure a great movie, but Zombie did a really good job of evoking that dirty, 70's-ish "make you want to take a shower afterwards" type of feel. It's definitely not the same type of film as House of 1,000 Corpses, in that it doesn't have the slick rock video-type edits, and bizarro comic-book color schemes, but as a brutal, uncompromising homage to the killer on the run films of old, it's a great ride. Plus, it was great seeing some familiar faces on the big screen again, such as Ken Foree, P.J. Soles, Steve Railsback, and Michael Berryman.

As I was walking out of the theatre I told my pal "Aside from any sountrack composed by Goblin, that movie had the best one EVVVVEEERRR". It seems most people on theboard agree with me. I liked this movie a lot, I also thought HO1KC sucked. A lot.

It's one of the most sadistic movies I've seen in awhile, and that's a good thing. I'm tired of watered-down horror movies. The Devil's Rejects are evil for the sake of evil, which is a welcome change from the cause/effect lineage of horror backgrounds (ie. my son drowned in a lake so I'm going to kill camp counselors, or I was burned to death by the families of kids I molested so I'm going to kill their children in their dreams, etc.) They might be radically over-exaggerated and at times cartoonish, but The Devil's Rejects do act like serial killers.
The only thing I noticed was that the story unfolded very similarly to From Dusk 'Til Dawn in terms of plotting and locations. Not that this is a bad thing, but the story arcs flow down parallel tracks.

All of the above, well maybe not so much on answer 4 but the movie did rock, it is the best horror movie out this year so far and I liked all the cameos. It felt a little like the old great 70s horror movies but still didn't quite hit the mark like the originals did. Anyways I voted this movie rocks.

I recommend also getting the soundtrack, but don't get the Clean Version. Get the version that says Parental Advisory. Comes with trailers and a 20 minute making of featurette on the DVD portion of the 2 sided disc. I bought the soundtrack about 3 hours ago.

Rob Zombie is my new hero. I don't even know what to say about it, except i loved everything about it, especially the music. Its not my favorite, but in the context of the movie, every song fit perfectly and added so much. I liked House of 1000 Corpses a lot, but this was on a whole different level. and a big thumbs up for the Bonnie and Clyde ending

I fuckin dug the hell out of this movie. This is now in my top 5 favorite movies. Anyone who hasn't seen it can't judge it just because it is a sequel to House of 1000 Corpses. The best horror movie I've seen all year.

I saw this yesterday and this movie rocked! From the joking and one-liners to the severe beatings to the Bonnie And Clyde ending, it was all good. It was nice to see so many familar people from horror's past in there as well as some tv greats. Captain Spaulding solidified his roll as one bad but hilarious motherfucker. His scenes were over the top funny and has become a favorite character of mine in the horror genre. The dream sequence at the movies beginning was too funny. Wydell was amazing in his role as the fallen cop's brother in search for the remaining family members who killed his brother. Ken Foree and Michael Berryman's scene with the chicken fucker had me rolling as well. This movie will most likely be this years best horror movie IMO though I've yet to see Romero's Land and a few others.

Watched the unrated DVD of this last night and was blown away. It reminded me of a Tarantino movie in many respects - great cast, entertaining dialogue, OTT violence, etc.
My only disappointments were the absence of Dr. Satan (apart from his appearance as a deleted scene in the extras) and the predictable re-appearance of Tiny at the movie's climax. It would be great to see the Dr. Satan character re-appear. What are the chances of a spin-off to Devil's Rejects given that it didn't set the box-office alight?

entertaining dialogue,
Apart from the Mark Twain line from Otis, and the Capt Spaulding stuff at the beginning, was there any clever/entertaining dialogue in this movie? It seemed to me that all the movie was f-bombs.

The use of the f "bomb" and any other curse word is just fine by me as long as it is well used, as I thought it was here. Persionally, I thought the movie was full of fucking clever and entertaining dialogue. I would give some fucking examples, but I would have to just fucking c/p the whole fucking god damn script for you. However, since you didn't fucking like it the first fucking time, I can't fucking imagine that you are going to fucking like it if I fucking post it so fuck that. I would rather just fucking eat some Tutti fucking fruity. That sounds good.

Of course, there's this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_ordered_by_uses_of_the_word_fuck
So, I'm sure Zombie and all the principles involved in TDR production are currently walking around with their "F-Bomb Champions" ballcaps and t-shirts in their leisure moments.
Just skimming the surface, there's great musical numbers, like....
Baby: "Chinese, Japanese, Dirty knees, look at these!"
...and rock-anthem-esque, raise the lighter moments.....
Spaulding: "If you're gonna start the killing, you best start it right here."
Then you get Baby wisdom, like...
"I love famous people! They're even better than the real thing, ya know?"
and wholesome warm fuzzy pick-up lines like....
Candy: "What you lookin' at?"
Otis "I'm lookin' at you, mama."
Candy: "Yeah, you see something you like?"
Otis: "Maybe. I set my standards pretty low, so I'm never disappointed."
and, Sunday church study group material aplenty:
Otis: "I am the devil, and I am here to do the devil's work."
One of my favorite scenes:
Spaulding: "I'm gonna have to be taking your car today. See I have some top secret clown business that supersedes any plans that you might have for this here vehicle."
Susan: "What's that about clown business?"
[laughs nervously]
Spaulding: [pause] "Do I stutter, bitch?"

I don't mind the use of the "fbomb" (I used f-bomb because I couldn't remember if this was one of the boards that discourage swearing) either as long as the dialogue it's in is clever or at least funny. Capt Spaulding had a couple of lines that I liked and I forgot about Otis and his "low expectations" lines, but I'm sorry it just seemed to me that 75% of the movie they weren't actually saying anything other than Fuck. It just seemed another way for Zombie to try and shock the audience, rather than spend time writing interesting dialogue. Funny thing is the work FUCK doesn't shock most people anymore, it didn't shock me. If anything I found it to be a little boring after a while. Maybe that's how people would talk in real life, hell I know plenty of people who talk this way, but jeez couldn't Zombie throw in a couple of more well thought-out lines?? Alot of the other movies on that list at least had some dialogue within all the FUCKs.
But hey, if you guys liked the dialogue then I'll just shut up about it. It's just my personal opinion anyway and my opinion don't matter.

I think the excessive use of the f-word helped ground the characters in reality.
Many if not most people I know talk like that, so it makes them more believable IMO.
What's not believable is PG-13 movies where you know a character wants to say "fuck you", and would if it was real, but has to say "screw" or "forget you" instead. Even the people I know who don't use profanity as their normal language wouldn't say some dumbshit like that!
I feel the same about all the movie on that list I've seen. I barely even notice anyone saying "fuck" anymore, it's just part of talking. :D

I use profanity constantly. My friends have always been profane as well. It really doesn't even seem like the words have any bad meanings any more. To us they have just become words. But I guess they do for Rhett who seems to be putting on his best little Roger Ebert impression specifically for this movie.
This is one of several films that I have enjoyed but cannot for the love of god (or anything else for that matter) understand some of the raves it's getting from horror fans. I thought it was good but not nearly that good. But that's just me :p
