Battlefield Baseball (http://www.diabolikdvd.com/category/Browse-All-Titles/Battlefield-Baseball-(NTSC-Region-1).html)

Has anyone seen this? It sure sounds like fun. Would like to hear some feedback.

Produced by Japan's number one director RYUHEI KITAMURA (Versus, Godzilla: Final Wars) and starring Japanese superstar TAK SAKAGUCHI (Versus, Azumi)

The baseball diamond is not just a place to play sports. No, it is a coliseum where gladiators wage war for their very lives with bats, balls and gloves. Seido High has a championship baseball team until they clash with the living dead zombies of Gedo High who rip off their heads, pull out their arms and explode their guts in a display of fighting baseball skills that will make your blood run cold. Now the coach of Seido High turns to the loner, Jubeh (Tak Sakaguchi), with his fantastic pitching skills to save his team from total annihilation.

Battlefield Baseball is based on the Manga cartoon Jigoku Koushien (Battlefield Stadium)" by Man-Gataro, which is serialised in Shueisha's Monthly Shonen Jump

I thought it was pretty crap, though some people may like it for being 'different'.

Its trying to be Shaolin Soccer meets Versus but not in the same ballpark as either.

This is the kind of film people will love or hate. Rent it before you buy it.

I agree... stay away from this one. It does sound fun... but fails to deliver. This is one of the few Japanese films that I got rid of.

Perhaps the best way to descibe this is as a bad... very bad attempt at pushing something through that had no business being on film. This is definately Kitamura's worst film. The guy showed amazing promise with Versus, but I think he's failed to deliver on his pontential in later films. Perhaps my opinion will change upon seeing Godzilla Final Wars, but I somehow doubt it.

I tried it out, but wound up selling it later. I agree with Broadwayrock, you'll either love it or hate it!

I have yet to meet someone who even remotely likes it (other than my roommate, but he doesn't count 'cuz he owns Dodgeball) let alone loves it.

I was bored watching this movie. Like someone mentioned, they tried to be something like Shaolin Soccer but failed miserably. One problem is that there wasn't any actual baseball in the movie. The other problem is this movie was made and I actually paid money to rent it. Yeah, the was the worst problem I had with it.

I enjoyed the Hell out of it. True, there is no baseball. Who cares though. Lots of mindless gore, people breaking into song and overal stupidity.

If you like dumb movies, you probably will get a kick out of it.

Exactly... I find myself not much caring if there's any baseball in this one.

I'll admit that the songs/gore were cool. The movie was just a huge mess though. Maybe I just went into it with the wrong mindframe, as I went in expecting something sort of serious, or at least something like Shaolin Soccer but with baseball and more violence/gore. But it just seemed like a mess to me. I usually like stupid movies, but this one was a little too stupid.

It did get many favorable reviews, but I bought it (the import one) and the film just didn't click, too "trying to be cult" attitude?
