I haven't posted here for a long time but really craving new Halloween or even fall based horror movies. Any recommendations aside from the most obvious (Halloween of course) are welcome. Thanks.

Jack-O
Night of the Demons
The Midnight Hour
Hallow's End
The Fear: Halloween Night

I own 3 of the above, but have only seen Jack-O so far. It's not that bad, I'd advise it. Funny commentary, Linnea nude, not to mention the neighbors who don't want to give the kids "a hand-out"

All of the Night of the Demons movies (1-3) take place on Halloween plus the following:

Pet Sematary Two
Riding the Bullet
Silver Bullet (parts of it take place around Halloween)
Trick or Treat
Ginger Snaps
House of 1000 Corpses

I second IGotsNewShoes' recommendation of Night of the Demons. Great, great movie. Night of the Demons 2 is great as well, but part 3 sucks ass. ;)

Another vote for Madman here-I just watched it again and I absolutely love this movie. One of my top 10 horror favorites of all time. incredibly, it supposedly is taking place on the LAST WEEKEND BEFORE THANKSGIVING at the end of camp. What the hell kind of camp runs until Thanksgiving? Do none of these kids (of which there are about five) go to school? Still, an incredible movie.

I've been very tempted to order Night of the Demons through Deep Discount DVD. Can someone kindly give me a little more information about it? I'd look it up at the IMDB or on Google, but I'm already signed on hear and I'm too tired and too lazy to do so.

...

I second House of 1000 Corpses and Clownhouse. Both are very fun and very appropriate titles to view on Halloween. I also noticed that no one mentioned the Garfield Halloween special or any of The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episodes. Yes, they're cartoons and I know they're not horror movies, but I like to mix it up a little and these add a little fun and variety to the mix.

What, no Hocus Pocus? Yeah, I know, it's silly as hell but the only movie to showcase Sarah Jessica Parker in a role she was born to play.

And keeping with the witch theme, PBS has recently released Three Sovereigns for Sarah on DVD - not necessarily an autumnal film, but an incredible story about the Salem witch trials. Truly disturbing.

Not really horror, but I believe there's a Halloweeen party for the climax of Ms .45. Might just be a NY freak show though, been a while since I watched the the movie.

Hell Night
Blair Witch
Jason Lives (although we think of summer camp, this is totally filmed in the fall and has a "chilly" feel to it)..

There's another movie I've heard of that actually takes place on Halloween night... It's actually called "Halloween"... or something like that.... :D

Nearly everyone hates it, but I really love Halloween III: Season of the Witch. It's set in the Halloween season and has all kinds of festive masks & holiday novelties. Sure there's no Michael Myers to be found, but you will find a lot of Halloween spirit in this movie especially with the Silver Shamrock factory and trick or treating.

Trick or Treat from 1986 is total schlock, but lots of fun! It's 80's metalhead heaven with a headbanging soundtrack and cameos from Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne. Remember all of those warnings not to play your records backwards? An obsessed metalhead does just that and all hell breaks loose. I found the dvd at Wal-Mart a few years ago for $5.50.

Halloween with the New Addams Family
Halloweentown
Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge
Return to Halloweentown
Halloweentown High
Ernest Scared Stupid
Jack O'Lantern
Jack-O
Halloween Night

I know , I know, the first 6 are family type movies, but good nonetheless.

Also just for fun that isn't a horror movie but is on Halloween.

Thats actually what I was going to reccomend when I opened this thread. It's a very overlooked film, but one of my favorites. It's also got one of the best electronic scores that Ive heard in a movie. Definitely a must watch for the Halloween season.

Cool! Glad to see I'm not the only one who can appreciate this movie. I agree, it's an awesome electronic score from John Carpenter.

I'm even happier to hear I'm not the only Tom Atkins fan on this site. He rules! I met him last year at a film convention and got to speak with him for about 30 minutes. He was the nicest actor I ever met & told me some cool stories about different films. He was thrilled to see I was wearing the Atkins t-shirt too!

Just another vote for it... Halloween III is a must for the season. I also agree with whoever said the electronic score is great. That's the only Halloween soundtrack that's in regular rotation in my jukebox. :D

I just watched Halloween III on Saturday night. It's one of John Carpenter's best soundtracks in my opinion. Is the soundtrack out of print?

Halloween III does rule. That's another one I usually always tend to watch around this time of year.

The music score has always been a favorite of mine!

Just thought I'd resurrect this thread. Any other new recommendations?

Also, is Trick or Treat so cheesy it's good, or actually a decent film? What is the best version to get, the Platinum Disc version, or the double feature version by Velocity/Think Film with Slaughter House of the Rising Sun?

Well I think that thread is about what people are already gonna watch. This is more of a recommendations thread. I'd throw in the original Dawn of the Dead and House By The Cemetery. Both seem to have a Fall feel to them.
