There's a movie I saw on TV a long time ago which I desperate to find the title of.
It was a made-for-TV movie in the 1980's.
It took place at an oceanside community, and was sort of a horror murder mystery.
There are dream sequences of a boy observing the ritualistic murder of his parents on a beach many years ago. His folks were buried in the sand. There was a big bonfire with a native tribe dancing in a circle. Apparently the spectral circle of the bonfire dancers are still haunting the beach; as people are disappearing and dying.
(spoiler)
It turned out the sheriff of the town was the young boy. But now he's donning his war paint and re-enacting the ritual on current unlucky victims.
(/spoiler)
Anybody recall the name of this movie so I can get my hands on it?
I've power-searched IMDB with no results which ring a bell.

Some of what you described sounds very similar to Bay Cove (a.k.a. Eye of the Demon) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092623/), but I can't remember some of the details you described...so it's probably not it. The residents were immortal and ancient or something like that.

Hi. I'm afraid it didn't have any witches in it.

with all your clues, I have no fucking clue. Its as if you have too much clues. None of those plot points match up. The date , tv movie, or "indian tribe" could be wrong. Something is wrong in that set up.
P.S- Did you see it Canada, if so maybe it was a French movie. Then all I can say is good luck.
P.P.S.- you must really been looking for this movie, I seen your question on some other site. What you don't have faith in this board? ;)

It was a major USA network movie of the week in the 80's with American actors.
Horror fans vs. 80's movies fans might offer different perspectives, I posted to two boards.

I'm glad you found it. But after reading about the movie, I new there was something a little different. Too bad you didn't mention it was grandparents of the boy , and there were psychiatrists involved. (who (psychiatrists) the whole movie is focused around) that they are investigating why when "strangers" come to town they end up dying.
Either way at least you found the name of the movie. I hope you can get your hands on a copy. But the fact that it only appeared on CBS , will make it very hard. Maybe someone taped it somewhere.

The memory fools. I didn't remember they were grandparents. I remembered nothing about the psychiatrists whatsoever. The most vivid memory was that ghostly tribe of indians dancing around the bonfire on the beach, which spooked the hell out of me.
I've found a place to order a DVD-R of it - it won't be the greatest quality, but I'll replace it with the official, should it ever be released. But it might end up being a crappy movie, and not as spooky as I remembered it.

That's the problem with TV movies from back then. With few exceptions they all seem to be MIA with no apparent hope for them to ever be released legitimately on DVD. Most seem to be easily found on the grey market fortunately.

If I may ask, where did you find a place to order it? Maybe they have some other rare finds.

I would also be interested in a dvd-r of this movie...I remember it very well...I think it also had an actress named Cindy Pickett in it, who is better known as Ferris Bueller's mom....
