INTRUDER (1988) directed by Scott Spiegel and starring Sam Raimi, Ted Raimi, and Bruce Campbell, and Renee Estevez (sister of Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez) Picked this disc up at Kim's Video NYC for $11.99. The fullscreen transfer is good. Some grain and a slightly soft picture, but overall a more than decent transfer. There doesn't seem to be any picture loss on the sides, so it's safe to suggest that the film was either shot open matte or full screen 1.33. Presented UNCUT, all the gore is here. Outstanding bloodshed courtesy of KNB EFX group, interesting photography, and a quick running time make this disc well worth the low price tag! The only extras are 4 trailers (including INTRUDER). I don't have the PAL R2 Dragon disc called "Night Of The Intruder" for comparison, but I'm sure someone on the forum will let us know if there are any major differences between the two. Thankfully i can now retire my old bootleg VHS forever!

I just watched this for the first time about a month or so ago, saw it uncut, and gotta say I was unimpressed. I didn't much care for any of the characters and I got bored of the supermarket location. Couple of decent kills, but I'll pass on buying.

I'm sticking with the Dragon DVD. The extended gore scenes and the Spiegel/Raimi shorts are worth it. This is a fun slasher!

I saw it out for rent last week at Hastings, but curiously not for sale. I'm happy enough with the old Dragon DVD. Mark Relford is dead right, the extra gore scenes and film shorts are well worth it. But if you're not region-free, the R1 is probably easily worth buying...the movie rules!

The Dragon DVD is going to be pretty hard to beat. I didn't even consider this one, because that one has everything I need and more. Still, it's one of my very favorite slashers. Glad to see it get out in R1, finally.

No need for this since I have the Dragon. It's a shame for those not region free that they don't get those fun shorts or extra gore.
I can't compare since I haven't seen the new disc. Dragon transfer leaves room for improvement, but it is a 16mm film so I doubt it can be much better.

I, too, like the Dragon DVD for the two deleted gore scenes but you have to remember that they're missing half the sound effects. So the DVDs that have been released are as uncut as we'll probably ever see in its completed form. This means that I would be interested in seeing if the R1 DVD has better picture quality.

Does anyone know where I can buy the Dragon DVD? I've heard this disc is out of print.

It is indeed out of print. Your best bet is to keep a look out on ebay. But, the last one sold for $60+ so it's really a matter of how bad you want it.

I'll probably just end up getting the R1 edition. I've never seen the Dragon version, so I can't miss what I haven't seen. If I do run across a used copy of the Dragon edition though I might just have to grab it.

I can't find this DVD anywhere. Is the R1 out or has it been delayed yet again?

Also, for anyone who has the new R1 disc, can you post some screen shots so we can compare them to the Dragon disc?
