An exact release date has yet to be announced. An IMDb plot summary for "Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park" reads as follows: "The tale of rock band KISS and their efforts to thwart a diabolical plan by mad scientist Abner Devereaux. KISS must use their special powers to stop him."
Oh dear god. :nervous: I remember this movie. Even The Exorcist II didn't suck this much.

I was just watching this LAST NIGHT!!!!
I'm trying not to bust out right now and cause an epidemic of prairie dogging in my office!
Wow this thing is freakin wretched.
Hopefully they'll include an issue of the KISS comic book. You know the one that had their blood mixed into the ink?

Man, this was originally announced like two or three years ago and never came out to my knowledge. Glad to see it looks like it will actually happen now. This movie holds a very special place in my heart.
Me and a buddy of mine used to rewind and replay the part where Ace Freely says "Starchild!" and then like shoots a laser beam or something -- I don't know, it just made us laugh ourselves to tears (probably helped to be really stoned as well.)
My favorite Hannah-Barbera Film Production! Ever!

KISS meets the phantom of the park is what first got me interested in rock music. Watched it when it first aired on NBC in October 1978, in hindsight it is a very cheesy film but I still like it for the concert sequences. In spite of the make-up and over the top antics, KISS delivered some of the best american hard rock of the seventies and were a huge influence on me picking up the guitar. Will always have a special place for the band and this film.
BTW: This is not Gene Simmons. :)

I love that film!! I have a copy from an original TV recording. I traded someone on the net for it years ago. I put it on DVD-R. It's a good enough copy, but if the official release is any good, I'd definitely consider getting it. Needs some good extras!! Like someone else said, the comic would be awesome!!

Geez, I haven't seen this one in many, many years. I'd love to see it again though, so I'll probably be buying the DVD upon release.

I'm a huge Kiss fan, at least of the old make-up era, but this movie sucks. I watched again a couple of weeks ago, and can't understand why I even liked it when I was a little boy. Even the concert sequences sucked. Rip rip, rip and destroy! And I love seeing how Ace had a black stunt double and I believe an Asian one as well! Oh well, At least Kiss didn't completely suck in 1978, with the release of the solo albums and Double Platinum. (At least The Paul and Ace solo albums were good imo!)

Have a copy of the laserdisc, and I cannot conceive of the dvd being an improvement printwise over the LD. Most VHS releases (IE.Goodtimes) have been pure shit quality wise.

KISS Meets the Phantom DVD

Serious movie critics and on-line summaries of the first full-length KISS movie often portray it as a low-quality laughable production. But fans know better. The October 28, 1978 Saturday Night Movie of the Week was one of the most anticipated dates for young KISS fans across the nation. To be able to see Ace, Gene, Peter and Paul acting out their larger than life characters in an action film was much more of a rewarding wait than the anticipation of Christmas. Combining acting, action, mystery and some of the most incredible concert footage ever shot of the band, it is a treasure to be watched over and over.
October 25th is the first official release date ever of the movie on DVD. The picture quality is comparable to VHS and has a mono soundtrack as had the original release 27 years ago. No special extras other than chapter selection, but nonetheless it is good to have a good, clean version of this film on a modern video disc.
I love this picture of Paul Stanley from IMDB. It certainly explains why they still need the makeup when they tour.

He's certainly no uglier than members of other bands such as The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, The Who, Cheap Trick, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden to name but a few.
