I was reading this article, Top 50 Horror movies (above link) it's a very good list. The top 4 were well picked. I thought Jeepers Creepers part 1 should have made the list though in the top 50. Being an Argento fan, I thought 2 or 3 more of his movies could have gone up. Tenebre would have been a good choice, somewhere around the top 20, and Bird with the Crystal Plumage (since it's his first). As soon as I saw Suspiria in top 3, I was happy. What do you guys think? :fire:

I do disagree with a couple, especially "Blair Witch Project" in the top 15? Scream I don't think it's top 50 either. However, I do think that "The Descent" (2005) seems to be really amazing, came out new, and it's on this list, it has gotten rave reviews and it's already being mentioned as best Horror Film of 2005. That's impressive.

Decent list. The Blair Witch Project would be in my bottom 50 of all time list though.

That's actually one of the better lists I've seen. Personally, I'd put Blair Witch in the top five. Scream and Bride of Frankenstein wouldn't be anywhere near my list. Its nice seeing The Wicker Man, Rosemary's Baby, Don't Look Now, and Cannibal Holocaust in the top 10. I'd have Targets ranked much higher. Some damn fine films were left off, while some more overrated film were on there. Overall though, a nice list.

Interresting list, but IMO NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and THE EXCORCIST should be higher.I also would consider CURSE OF THE CAT PEOPLE(which I like) more of a fantasy film.Where is JAWS ?

i would put blair witch in the top fifty - no doubt at all on that one- love or hate it- it was original and had a huge impact for such a low budget film

The Beyond #49? Someone's on crack. ;)

Bride of Frankenstein should be higher because it is one of the classics of cinema history, undeniably.

The Exorcist at 13? Give me a break. Also, no Jaws = no sale.

No Re-Animator but they have Candyman...bad choice. Otherwise it's pretty good.

That's a really good list. I love the fact that they included Don't Look Now in the top ten. I dislike the fact that they put Blair Witch Project and Nekromantik (!) on this list, though. If Nekromantik-- of all films-- is going to be on the list, Jaws should AT LEAST have been included. I can think of plenty of films that should have been on that list instead of those two.

Interesting List. I also think that Blair Witch should of been top 5. The Exorcist and Carrie should also have been higher. The British sure do seem to love the Witchfinder General. I was reading through The Dark Side Magazines 100th issue a while ago and it was on almost all there Lists.

if you look at it with just listing 50, and not in any order. Its a pretty decent list.

For once, a "best of" list that doesn't suck. Some interesting picks.

Why do people insist that Scream is some kind of work of ingenuity? It sucked.
Candyman? Give me a break. Shitty list.

Yeah, I don't think it's a very good list. I do own 32 of those titles, though.

Well, it's not bad. I'm always disapointed to see such recent films on such a list though. it really does take time for films to mature, for their stature to develop, imo. For instance, Switchback Romance had a good rep now - and indeed I really enjoyed it. However, in ALL TIME, I'd say it's merely a good slasher. Nothing down on it or anything, but when you're talking of all time, it really doesn't rank, imo.

Other strange ones Nekromantik - very effective film, but wouldn't rank on my all-time list. Get rid of Candyman, get rid of Scream, Sub Bride of Frankenstein for Whales original film etc.

The list doesn't make me want to puke, and you could do a lot worse. As for Jaws, I don't consider it a "horror" film - it's more of an adventure/thriller for me. But then, there's no way we could all agree on a definition of horror :D

Although I can't say Scream is a bad movie... it's great, but I too don't understand why people consider it original when there's nothing in the movie that hadn't been done before. Being a horror fan, I'm used to this and know that complete originality in horror is very hard to come by, but why give originality credit where it's not only not due... it's a complete rip. If you take every single thing that happens in Scream, it's happened before.

But, Rose McGowan's hard nipples were really cool.
