Amen!
Isn't it funny how every remake that gets made seems to get instant release into theatres but anything original like The Woods or Hostel....can't get released at all, or end up with very limited releases. I'm not necessarily against remakes, but when they knock original movies out of theatres and take their promo budget, that kind of irks me. Be nice if we could get a nice mix of originals and remakes.

Well, this certainly sucks. I thought we were getting it early, and now we're getting it later than the original release date. Lions Gate dumbasses. Maybe they'll redeem themselves by finally releasing the original cut of Cabin Fever as a DVD tie-in, but I find that highly unlikely.

"from the minds that brought your cabin fever" now thats funny. I'm mean really hilarious. I didn't realize this movie was a comedy. (By the way I hear the first half of the movie basically is) and about 10 minutes worth of horror in whole film. including torture scenes that will have you laughing.
Eli Roth is a hack and overrrated. This film is way overhyped. Here we wait and wait for another movie that offers many promises. Besides the premise of the movie has been done before a few times. And , Wow gore for the sake of gore, I'm so impressed. Will just have to see if it holds up.

WHEN WILL ELI'S HOSTEL OPEN ITS DOORS?
Eli Roth's Hostel has a release date - and it's sooner than you think. How soon?
January 13th.
That's just a few days shy of two months away, which is good news for everyone who's been looking forward to seeing what happens when you let Eli Roth, Quentin Tarantino and Takashi Miike loose in a tale of sadism and torture.
It also bodes well for the movie's box office prospects, as the post-Christmas period is traditionally a good spot for horror and genre fare to flourish.
It's also a good excuse to run this picture, which may be new or may be old, but it makes me giggle either way.

After Cabin Fever I'm quite apprehensive about Eli's films. The hype surrounding that one was overkill in my opinion. I went to see it in theaters (which I don't do often as it's so damn expensive) and definitely felt it was a rental film at best.
I'll wait for the DVD release of this one.

HOSTEL POSTER REVEALED
As I suspected when the release date of Hostel was recently announced as being January 13th, the promotional bandwagon for the flick is picking up speed in order to get everyone buzzing before Christmas sweeps in with all that "goodwill to all men" horseshit.
And look what just flopped into my inbox...
An email offering me "v1AGr4 - make s ur cocck 12 innches - $$$$ - presc ript ons"
And also the poster for the aforementioned Hostel.
I like it. It's abstract and sinister, without being blatant. A similar aesthetic to Saw's severed digits motif, but without being quite so blunt and obvious about the content of the movie. Which, at least at this stage of the game, means they're being coy about the mayhem to follow. Good for them.
Quite how it'll go down with that elusive mainstream audience remains to be seen, but at the very least it'll have them wondering "What the hell do you use that for?"
And let's face it - it's a movie about sex tourists being brutally tortured by sicko Euro-creeps and Takashi Miike. They probably wouldn't like the answer.
Click the pic to see it big.

Believe it, 'Hostel' Changes Dates Again!
No joke, Lions Gate Films has once again changed the date for Eli Roth's Hostel (review #1, #2), which by my estimations has been shifted more times in one month than any film in history (I wouldnt be shocked). The new move will take the film from a nice Friday the 13th date in January to January 6th. It's all fine and dandy that they moved it, but can they please just pick a friggin' date and stick with it?! but in the end, no matter when you see it, you're in for a great time. Click the title above for the poster, trailer links and tons of pics from the pic, which stars Jay Hernandez, Derek Richardson, Eythor Gudjonsson, Barbara Nedeljakova, Jana Kaderabkova, Jan Vlasák, Jennifer Lim, Lubomir Silhavecky, Paula Wild, Lubomir Bukovy, Petr Janis, Jana Havlickova and Vanessa Jungova.

that's unbelievable. :eek2: They already had the Jan. 6 date once before. Why do they keep announcing if they're not sure? I think personally the 13th was a better call. On the plus side, I really want to see it again so the new date is sooner...but I have no faith that this date will stick. Is this going to be wide release on the 6th? It should be.

Eli Roth talks HOSTEL DVD plans
When Eli Roth’s gruesome sophomore effort HOSTEL is released January 6, audiences will be assaulted by one helluva ending. But when the fans pick up the DVD sometime next year, they’ll be treated to…two.
As is the case with many productions passing through the studio pipeline on their way to a theatrical bow, work on HOSTEL’s DVD debut is already underway. However, Roth tells Fango that viewers may have to wait a spell before sinking their teeth into a meaty disc loaded with extras, including a different finale that was filmed and subsequently dropped in favor of a bloodier end. It’s one of three conclusions Roth kicked around; the first reportedly never made it past the screenwriting process, being deemed too explicit and bleak by the film’s producing team, including Quentin Tarantino.)
“I wanted to do the alternate ending as a DVD special, and I don’t think they’re going to release that just yet,” Roth says. “First we’ll have the theatrical movie with just bonus features, then somewhere down the road they want to do a special-edition director’s cut with the original ending on it. I didn’t want that conclusion to be an extra; I’d like to watch the movie with it added on.”
Roth confesses that outside of this major addition to the film, expect little in the way of extended gore scenes. Not only was he able to squeak by the MPAA with an R rating, he was lucky enough to put into the film everything he had intended—which posed something of a predicament. “Honestly, everything I shot made it into the movie,” he reveals. “When we got our R so easily, the studio said, ‘Well, what are we going to put on the unrated DVD?’ It was a really good question, ‘cause I had no idea! We’ll have scenes that are really great that, for one reason or another, just found their way to the cutting room floor.
“The thing that’s frustrating,” he continues, “is that Sony is releasing the DVD, not [theatrical distributor] Lionsgate, so we’re running into these issues with the legal department of what we can put in our behind-the-scenes piece. Sony is a big corporation, and you have to be careful about certain things. So it’s really frustrating that my brother did this kick-ass behind-the-scenes feature, and lot of my favorite bits are getting cut out of it because Sony’s afraid of getting sued.”
Given Tarantino’s participation with HOSTEL, one has to wonder if Roth has had any talks with the KILL BILL director about GRIND HOUSE, a genre-film collaboration with SIN CITY’s Robert Rodriguez that will be told in two parts and feature faux exploitation previews between the segments. “Of course I’ve talked to Quentin; I’m very excited to see what those guys do with GRIND HOUSE,” Roth says enthusiastically. “I’m sure I’ll find my way on set with a camera in one way or another.”

just curious if anyone still interested in this movie?
Its getting alot of hype as being a real hardcore movie.
If thats the case then can someone explain how these so called "hardest hardcore" scenes got thru the MPAA? what where they sleeping?
I didn't see the movie , but I seen a few scenes on the internet including the eye scene. which by reading some boards is like THE SCENE and I was laughing on how stupid and fake looking it was.
If I remember correctly was it not Cabin Fever over hyped as being a real groundbreaking horror film. It was supposed to be so sick and terrorfying?
Not a horrible movie but sorta lame.
I think were all being taken again.
My vote for a pretty violent film recently is Haute Tension
Then again that was a French film. with very little boundries. then cut for US theaters then uncut on dvd.

I am very excited to see this movie, and think that it looks great. I get slightly more hyped each TV or movie spot that I see. I suspect it isn't as hardcore as it is being touted on the net, but what is? Answer: Nothing. I gave up on that whole line of hype ages ago. I just want to entertained. Cabin Fever did that for me, and I hope this does as well.

I heard that one of the ways roth got it through the mpaa, was by putting rap music over the hardcore scenes. So it would look more relaxed and rythmtic. Instead, of using tense music.
Obviously, there will be no rap music in the film, it was just a trick used to get by.
I think I got this from the Q&A video.
