How about listing all the horror movies you haven't seen, but should have. The ones you are embarrased to say you still haven't checked out. Here I go:
Halloween
Halloween 2
Halloween 4
Halloween 5
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers
Phantasm (all of them)
Cannibal Holocaust
That's all the main ones I can think of now.

Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers

I'm never embarrassed for not seeing sequels. They are usually lower on my priority list.
I would say (although hoping to change that soon)
Tombs of the blind Dead
The Devil Rides Out
Two Thousand Maniacs!
Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein
Them
It's Alive
Nekromantik
That's all of the "popular" films I can think of.
Hellbilly
11-07-2005, 05:36 PM
Tenebre
Demons 2
Repulsion ... I've seen bits and pieces when I was a child, can't remember much about it.
I'm sure there are more :(

Black Christmas (seen a little bit of it, but had to leave)
Black Sunday (most Bava films can be added to this list)
It's Alive (and it's sequels)
Dellamorte Dellamore
Cannibal Holocaust (or many of the other jungle/cannibal films)
Peeping Tom
Diabolique
Carnival Of Souls
Picnic At Hanging Rock
Patrick
I know there are more as well, but that's what gets me the most.

Eye of the Devil, was one I just saw recently that I have never seen and was totally blown away.
If you haven't seen Buddy Boy or Screams of a Winter NIght I highly recommend them. They are worth seeking out.
Peter Vincent

Dead & Buried
Dead & Breakfast
Cannibal Holocaust (and like tobaccoman, many other cannibal/jungle/sick ass movies)
and soon to be rectified...
Ginger Snaps 1 & 2 (got 'em DVR'd off of IFC....here's hoping my hard drive doesn't crash).
Katatonia

Hmm... not much really comes to mind right now. I have never seen Nekromantik or Schramm though.

Trust me on this, you should only be embarassed if you have seen it.
For me, it would have to be most Bava films, Inferno, Phenomena, Street Trash and a few others I (obviously) can't remember. I'm actually pretty good at keeping up with my viewings of popular titles.

Oh yeah, I've yet to see Phenomena and still need to give The Bird With The Crystal Plummage and Deep Red proper viewings. There are many movies I saw years ago that I think would benefit from another viewing though as my tastes have changed dramatically.

DEAD AND BURIED and NEAR DARK are two that come to mind.

Dead & Buried
Fiend Without A Face
The Blob (original)
Onibaba
Dark Water (Japanese original)
Faust
Sisters (don't know if it's really horror, but whatever)
almost all the Hammer films
almost all Paul Naschy films
I also don't think I've gotten through an entire viewing of...
Dracula
The Wolf Man
The Invisible Man
Creature From The Black Lagoon
WHAT KIND OF A HORROR FAN AM I?!

Quite frankly, there's a ton of horror movies I haven't seen. I wouldn't know where to start, but I'll just say:
The Horror of Dracula (but I own quite a few Hammer titles)
The Devil Rides Out
The Devils Rejects (that'll change tomorrow)
Anthropophagus
Alone in the Dark (1982)
All Amityville movies except for 1, 2 and the Remake
All chucky movies except the first one
Grapes of Death
The Innocents
Satan's little Helper
I could keep going for hours...but that doesn't mean I don't want to see any of these, some I just haven't got to yet.

I don't know anything about being embarassed. More than 90% of the films listed here besides Halloween & Phantasm series are not even close to being mainstream. The majority of the public dosen't even know they exist.

Black Sabbath
Peeping Tom

We are NOT the general public. WE are horror fans. As such, it's a down right fucking crime that someone has NOT YET seen Halloween. :fire:

Ash: i've got to admit that the only spanish horror i've seen that comes to mind quickly is In a Glass Cage (but i know there's another...this mother/daughter/cult thing).
Anyways, thanks for the list (i'm not sure Santa Sangre is spanish, though...but it's one of the best movies ever). i checked some reviews for those and they do look promising.

yeah I included some Spanish Mexican as well. I can see how In a Glass Cage may have freaked you out for Spanish films though:)

Suspiria (I rented it once but the tape was fucked up and I only saw half of it completely clearly, plus the dubbing was horrible, I do remember digging what I saw, and really liking the soundtrack, was that a voice whispering witch in the background, I couldn't really tell, maybe I should try renting it again.)
The Blair Witch Project (I tried watching this but I fell asleep during it, I remember being amazed at how much they said fuck though)
Assault On Precint 13
The Haunting
Dracula
Frankenstein
The Wolfman (hell any of the universal classics)
Angel Heart
Bubba Ho-tep
The Devil's Rejects
and Alone In The Dark (just kidding)

As far as I'm concerned, I think I've seen all the important horror movies, so any that I've missed I'm not embarrassed about. I'll get to them eventually. There's only so many hours in a day. ALICE SWEET ALICE, PEEPING TOM, BAD TASTE, ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 are all movies I've been meaning to see but haven't had the chance.
Cat People comes to mind immediately
However, I consider it a badge of honor and good taste that I have not seen many of the Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Nightmare on Elm Street sequels.

Actually I just bought and watched for the first time the original 1942 version of Cat People (along with The Curse of the Cat People). I saw the 1982 remake of Cat People but it's been a while since I've seen it.

Looking over people's lists, I'm proud (and unproud in some cases) to have seen as much as I've seen of the horror genre.
Finally saw Ginger Snaps last night...it was good....different. But maybe a little to overrated by many for my taste. Its not gonna go on any of my "fav" lists, but it stood on its own. Might play the sequal tonight.

Seeing them helps you really appreciate the originals (in most cases).

Haven't seen most Argento films. I've only seen Opera and Stendhal Syndrome.
There's a lot of others that I haven't seen, but these are the ones I actually want to see:
Cujo
Phantasm (all)
Cube
Don't Torture A Duckling
New York Ripper
Amityville Horror (seen the first two sequels and the remake but never the original)
Dark Water (haven't seen the Japanese nor the US version)
Audition
A Tale of Two Sisters
The Changeling
The Brood
Kairo
Wicker Man
and I call myself an Asian horror fan. :(
