Well is there? They seem like they are pretty much gonna be the same book.

My first answer? YES. It's FRIDAY THE 13TH and that's damn well reason enough to buy it since there's barely any other publications on the films out there. But also, "Crystal Lake Memories" is a hardcover, limitied edition with a metallic shine cover... so that alone is another reason to get it. Plus the excellent "Making Friday the 13th" is 256 pages total. "Crystal Lake Memories" is 320.

Honestly however, even if those extra pages are merely pictures, I'd still think it's worth picking up both books. Each are very reasonably priced (about $17.99 and $34.99 or lower). "Making of Friday the 13th", although a great read, left some very big holes especially on the background of the later sequels. Aside from the original film, nothing terribly extensive is mentioned concerning the censored gore footage from all later sequels (certain scenes are mentioned briefly, but totally devoid of pictures). Most annoying of all is that there are several noteable photos online of FRIDAY cut gore... such as this cut bit I will post here from FRIDAY THE 13TH 5: A NEW BEGINNING and some of what Jason really looked like for FRIDAY THE 13TH 6: JASON LIVES. If "Crystal Lake Memories" will print these photos, do the "bottom of the barrel" research, and maybe even come up with some extra morsals of info that even the most die hard FRIDAY fan doesn't know about... it would be the book of the Gods. We'll just have to wait and see. But frankly, I'd think it worth buying just for the dust jacket.

I'll agree. Crystal Lake Memories looks to be essential to own for any fan of the F13th series. Being the lifelong fan that I am, I can safely say I'm adding this book to my collection as soon as its released. Besides, if you're that big of a fan you need to own everything F13th you can get your mitts on.

I just finished "Making Friday the 13th" and, as an admitted fan of the series, thought it was great. If this new book has the stories and pictures the previous one didn't (love the one above of Violet's bloody crotch!), I will put down $35 without raising an eyebrow.
Mortis: Amazon doesn't have a date (which makes me think it's been pushed back) but you can still pre-order for whenever they decide to release it.

My copy of Crystal Lake Memories arrived from Sideshow this morning. It's my Christmas present so it's now been packed away but it came with an impressive keyring shaped like Jason's hockey mask. The book was signed by the author and Sean Cunningham. Shipping cost more than the book, though!

Their site doesn't mention that it's signed by Cunningham. I guess that's a bonus.

Specifically, are there any photos of cut footage (gore) from the FRIDAYs? More than what's already been released??

Ghost Hunters is a paranormal show on Sci-Fi. These two guys are plumbers by day, try to disprove haunting by night. It is like crack only spookier. One episode and you are usually hooked. Ever so often they catch something on video or audio tape which is really freaky.

I just check Barnesandnoble.com this morning, and it said that they were not getting any new copies in at this time. Well, about an hour ago, I check eBay, and someone was selling it with a Buy It Now price of $39.95 and I grabbed it. I figured this is probably the only way I am going to be able to get the book, so with shipping, it will cost me $50.00. I looked at the completed auctions within the last 30 days, and some of the auctions was just the authors signature, and I saw one go for $94.00 plus shipping, and one with 33 signatures and the T-Shirt went for $356.00 plus shipping. I am just so excited to be getting the book. This is my christmas present to myself. And just last week I got the other Friday the 13th Book, Making Friday The 13th. I am a huge fan of the Friday the 13th films, and I saw Parts 1-3 at the theaters when they were originally released.

So, wait, when is this book coming out? I pre-ordered it through Overstock.com and it still hasn't shipped. Overstock had it listed as being available in 10/2005 and then 11/2005, and now it's December and I still don't have the book. Overstock is usually very good when it comes to pre-orders, I pre-ordered a book from them in the past and I received it before the release date. I was hoping to give Crystal Lake Memories to my father as a Christmas present but at the rate things are going, it looks like this might end up as a Father's Day present.

No coupon , I ordered this book months and months ago. That was the price at Barnes at pre-order. Barnes honors any price even if it changes. I remember when I pre-odered it, Amazon had it for around 19.99. I just went with the lower price. It was so long ago, I guess both places made a mistake.

I called Barnes about a week ago to ask about this book because I was sent an email to Reconfirm my purchase. The email stated there was a long delay on this book, and said I needed to confirm (on the website) if I still wanted the book. When I went to the site , I noticed the price increase. So I called Barnes and the told me two things. One that they made a mistake on the original price and would still honor it , and two that the book hopefully will be out by Dec. 27 2005.

I did Buy It Now on eBay last Wednesday, and received my book Saturday afternoon, 3 days after I paid for the book. I did not expect it until this week. Very pleasantly suprised, and a very heavy book. I think between Crystal Lake Murders and Making Friday the 13th: Legend of Camp Blood, I think the best book of the two is Crystal Lake Murders: History of Friday The 13th, but I own both books now, and if you are a huge fan, I would recommend both, but I would get the Crystal Lake Murders first. From what I gather, I think that they are only printing 5,000 copies, and that is it.

I took a shot at this on Amazon on the 10th, where it was saying it would ship within 4 to 6 days. I also grabbed the Halloween 4 "special edition" novelization and the texas Chainsaw companion. Well, the others shipped right away, but lo and behold I got a notice saying that there was a delay with Crystal Lake and it wouldn't arrive until the end of january. Pissed, but expected. Then I got another notice that it had been picked up for shipping by UPS....to arrive on January 31st! A month in transit?? I emailed and got a reply that they had found some copies and were indeed shipping it out to arrive before Christmas. I'll keep my fingers crossed!! By the way, the Making Friday the 13th book was outstanding. This book will be hard-pressed to outdo that one.

evildeadfan123
12-20-2005, 11:17 PM
What I am thinking is that it has been officially released and it has sold out. It was released last part of October. There is even an official website just for the book:
http://www.crystallakememories.com, and I am not surprised about the book been in the 70.00 plus range. I think that the 5,000 copies is it. No more copies probably will be printed.

evildeadfan123
12-20-2005, 11:19 PM
I just looked at the website, this is a Limited Edition Hardcover, meaning that they will probably be reprinting it possibly, but if they do reprint it, it will be a Paperback cover. The book officially released on October 24th.

So, what's the scoop on this book? Sold out? Out of print?

After purchasing a copy for my father as a Christmas present, I decided that I would purchase a copy for myself after Christmas. Well, it's after Christmas and I certainly can't find it anywhere. The book is no longer listed on Overstock and Amazon has it listed that the book will ship in four to six weeks. Has anyone had any luck locating this title offline? Everyone at Sparkplug Press and Crystal Lake Memories wishes you a very happy holiday season. We thank you for your support this past year, and helping to make you the book such a success. The Silver Anniversary Hardcover Edition of 5,000 copies has entirely sold out!

Unfortunately, due to the unforeseen level of demand, we regret that many who wished to purchase the book have not been able to do so. Many online and retail booksellers sold out quickly, or had placed orders after the run had already been depleted. However, we are happy to announce that due to the continued demand for Crystal Lake Memories, the book will go into a new printing. I have to say that at first glance [just got it today] that this book is actually pretty high quality. They could have easily gone the cheap route with this kind of thing but it looks like they didn't cut too many corners here. Quality paper, binding, etc. I'm looking forward to reading it.

Sidebar: Evidentally, my brother had to special order it from the local bookstore [it was my xmas gift]. According to him, when he picked it up, the lady behind the counter made a comment like "Really? Is this it? You're not really going to read this, right?" -- as if it was so much below her.

I love people like that...
