Bruce Campbell Confirms 'Bubba Nosfertatu'

When asked by MarsDust about the rumors of a Bubba Ho-Tep prequel entitled Bubba Nosfertatu, which would take place in New Orleans during Elvis' younger days, Bruce explained, "It's gonna happen, but the nickel has to drop. There are a few companies interested, but administrative shakeups tend to slow business down." After MGM's successful DVD run, it comes as no shock that this highly anticipated sequel is going to happen. I guess it's safe to say this time, Elvis is back in the building! In 'Ho-tep' Elvis and JFK, both alive and in nursing homes, fight for the souls of their fellow residents as they battle an ancient Egyptian Mummy.

This is great news, but I thought Elvis died at the end of Bubba Ho-Tep?

That's why the new one's a prequel!

So if Ossie Davis passed away, who's going to play JFK?

So if Ossie Davis passed away, who's going to play JFK?

As was said above, this is a prequel, so I think it's safe to assume that JFK wouldn't even be in the picture (even if Ossie hadn't passed away).

However, JFK died at the end of Bubba Ho-Tep, so even if this was a direct sequel, he wouldn't be in it.

BUBBA NOSFERATU: CURSE OF THE SHE-VAMPIRES

I love me some Bubba. Bruce Campbell as Elvis doing the commentary on BUBBA HO-TEP is, in my opinion, one of the funniest commentary tracks of all time. I've been a huge Don Coscarelli fan since, well, PHANTASM of course.

The MASTERS OF HORROR SEASON TWO launch party was a smash of a shin-dig. But the fact that iF Magazine got a chance to get the lowdown from Coscarelli on the future of Bubba was key for me. See, he won't be involved with MOH: S2 (He did "Incident On and Off a Mountain Road".) for a reason. He's working on BUBBA HO-TEP 2!

“It’s going to star Bruce Campbell again, and he’s going to put on the old sequined jump suit," says Coscarelli. "It looks like it could be pretty interesting.” Obviously, from that comment Campbell’s Elvis survived the first movie, and Coscarelli laughingly added, “ Who said he died? He’s not dead. It’s the magic of movies, we’ll resuscitate him some how.”
Life is good.

Paul Giamatti to Star in 'Bubba Nosferatu'?!

Mr. Disgusting is gone for a few days, but I know our scooper is 100% legit as he/she has contributed in the past- I'll have Mr. D confirm early next week. Our anonymous scooper has reported to us that the great Paul Giamatti - who we're told is a huge Bruce Campbell fan - is in talks to star as Colonial Parker in Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires, which director Don Coscarelli has been talking about quite a lot the past few weeks. The other day it was confirmed here that the film is still being worked on and that Bruce Campbell will return- when the film will be shot is still unknown. More news as it comes in, and we'll try and get some sort of confirmation for you next week.

Bad news from IMDb:Campbell Rejects 'Bubba Ho-tep' Sequel

Actor Bruce Campbell has turned down the chance to star as Elvis Presley once again in the sequel to Bubba Ho-tep, insisting the character is "dead to him." Campbell has been offered the lead role in the comedy Bubba Nosferatu and the Curse of the She-Vampires, but rejected the opportunity because he and director Don Coscarelli have failed to solve their creative differences. He tells Fangoria magazine, "Don Coscarelli is a very passionate filmmaker. We got to a few points that we couldn't reconcile. I want to keep our friendship, so we parted ways. So I'm not part of that project."

Frankly, that sucks. I wonder what fundamental differences there could be. I'm still interested in the sequel but I think Bruce has excellent tastes, he may be right.

what made Bubba Ho-Tep an important film and not just a hokey movie was the social commentary on the elderly in America. i highly doubt a sequel will have any type of thematic message in it and although it could be fun and entertaining, it won't live up to what the first was. i'm hoping that's why Bruce bailed.

Yeah, someone posted about it in the "Elvis" edition DVD thread. What a bummer.
