Fango no longer to haunt Suncoast
The FANGORIA staff wants to let readers know that they will no longer be able to pick up their monthly fix of fear at Suncoast video stores. The company is undergoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, and as a result will not be selling Fango from this point on. However, the magazine can still be found at Barnes and Noble, Borders, B. Dalton, Hastings Books & Records and other bookstores and local comic shops, or you can save 40 percent off the cover price by clicking here and subscribing.

Not terribly surprising when you sell your merchandise at MSRP. I imagine places like FYE can't be far behind.

fango and suncoast suck, so its no big deal to me. $9 for a thin ass sorry excuse for a horror magazine? no thanks.

Though I used to buy Fangoria frequently about twenty years back, I'll take Rue Morgue Magazine over Fangoria any day now. Fangoria is just too expensive and the writing sucks now.

I didn't know Suncoast was going bankrupt, but it doesn't surprise me. The only things I have ever bought there are movie posters. You would think by now they would know why nobody buys anything from them, and therefore lower their prices. In any case I never bought Fangoria from them, actually I never buy Fangoria at all. It's so thin I usually just go to Borders and page through, just reading what interests me.

Fango is actually raising their subscription rates. Tony Timpone can suck a fat one.

why does Fango cost so much? that's the main reason i don't pick up the mag anymore.

Most magazines in general are outrageous. The pubs. do not want you to buy them in stores...they want you to subscribe.
Three cheers to another nail in Suncoasts coffin!!

Can't say I'm sad to see Suncoast leaving. Although, the one good thing about them...they usually had a lot of rare/obscure stuff. I know when something goes out of print, I always try to check Suncoast because they usually still have it, even up to a month after it's become unavailable. They might've only had maybe one or two copies of certain things, but this allowed them to have a lot more individual titles. A much better selection, even if they were outrageously expensive compared to the competition. So, it was usually a good place to browse before heading over to Best Buy or Circuit City to actually buy something. :)
As for Fango...the last one I bought was the one with Freddy vs Jason on the cover. It's simply too expensive for what you get. Of course, I've not been extremely impressed with any of the horror mags that are out there. Rue Morgue isn't much better at all.

Fangoria is a complete shit magazine now anyway, to look at how much the fucking thing is and seems like 50% of it is god damn ads anyway........Any true fans oughta look at some underground magazines like Penny Blood or Ultra Violent!

I like everything about Rue Morgue. The articles, the reviews, and I really like the layout. I think most of thier covers too are of a high quality.
I think it's been at least 3 years since I've purchased a copy of Fangoria. They've really been on the decline.

Suncoast is going out of business? This is great news! I can finally clean house like I did when Media Play was going under a few weeks ago!

I'm glad Suncoast is going out of business. They have such horrible prices....I look but never, ever buy.

It has been several years since I have been to Suncoast, and they did want to much for there DVDs. They usually charged $10-15.00 more than anyone else. And we do have one where I live but it is in a Mall, and I don't go to Malls anymore.

Bankruptcy does not mean going out of business, it means they are trying to stay in business. They will only be closing select stores which are not making money...the bankruptcy protection means they will not have to pay the astronomical fees that malls charge a store when a lease is broken.

Back when I started collecting VHS back in the early 90's the only store in my area was Suncoast and they usually had an amazing selection.
The last time I purchased something from Suncoast, however, was back in fall 2000 when they were the only store in Bangor, Maine, that had the BOOGIE NIGHTS two-disc set in stock. Other than that they and their prices can go to hell.

I agree that Suncoast has an amazing selection. If they would only lower their prices they would be one kickass movie store.

I think Fango is expensive, if one is just going to buy it right off the newsstand at cover price.
Just go to eBay and get a subscription. The price per issue is only around $2.30. I don't know how anyone can complain about that rate.

I actually hope Suncoast goes fully out of business so they can liquidate all their product for ridiculous discounts.

That's expensive toilet paper.
I just wish someone would buy out the magazine, fire all the staff and fill their seats with people like Joe Bob Briggs.

You and me both! I used to manage the one that is in the mall that I work in...and know first hand they make no money at all...so they will probably be one of the first to go (I managed 4 different locations over 8 years, and only 2 of the 4 are still open). All the people who I was friends with in the company have moved on...so I can't wait to see 'em shut down...the sad part is that even the early "clearance" prices will not even be close to online pricing.

Why worry about their prices? Just steal from them. It works for Wal Mart afterall.
