They're releasing the first film at least.
From their website (http://www.synapse-films.com):
MANIAC COP (1988) – Fantastic cult killer cop movie that spawned two sequels. Synapse will be doing a brand new HD master in 5.1 surround sound. Extras to be announced.

Yes,that's what we all know from the BU site. Thanks for posting them anyway but I'm talking about their next batch of upcoming DVDs.No info found anywhere:(.I hope they'll include some Gialli or Spaghetti Westerns (or both!) again :D.

Doh! I read that wrong at first and thought they were releasing Michele Soavi's La Setta. Oh well, I'm greatly looking forward to the four gialli on March 28th.

Oh, sorry I didn't read that carefully enough, I thought you said everything listed on their page was already out. I thought that would be rather sloppy of them, I should have looked at the link you gave.
What's with Maniac Cop anyways? How on earth did Don May Jr. snatch that up from William Lustig? You'd think Blue Underground was a heavy enough hitter to be able to out bid Synapse Films if Lustig really wanted it. May also snatched up Basket Case 2 before Frank Henenlotter of Something Weird, you'd also think Frank would have been bidding for that as well. I recall those both surprising the hell out of me in the same announcement.

yea i would of thought that since lustig owns blue underground they would of been able to snatch the 3 maniac cop films easily and made a kick ass 3 or 4 disc maniac cop trilogy box set

Nothing there that excites me (or that I know anything about, to be honest.) BU is such a great company...I hope they can get their hands on some more domestic classic 80's horror!

Same reason that I imagine why it hasn't been released in ANY region yet.
Rights issues?

Here's an older post of mine regarding BU's release:
Some Blue Underground news regarding this title (from the BU interview (http://horrordvds.com/vb3forum/showthread.php?t=20667)):
Quote:
Well, the famous one is (Dario Argento’s) Four Flies On Grey Velvet, which has been in legal limbo for quite some time. We’ll never give up, and we keep inching closer, but it’s still a long way away.
And there's also this:
http://horrordvds.com/vb3forum/showpost.php?p=297503&postcount=21
People keep asking about Four Flies because it's the only Argento film unavailable. It makes me very unhappy that my Argento collection is still incomplete! ;)

I'd really like to see individual non-coffin box set editions of the Blind Dead Series. So would I. I thought this was plan to begin with. On BU's website there are individual "buy now" links for each Blind Dead title, but the links take you to an order page for the whole set. In my case, I could do without THE GHOST GALLEON and even RETURN OF THE EVIL DEAD, but I definitely want TOMBS and NIGHT OF THE SEAGULLS.

If we're gonna talk fantasy releases here I'd like to see them do a Bava collection with everything remastered in DTS and maybe some new releases for older Argento titles like Deep Red.

Oh my god yes! I'm still so angry at that VCI Blood and Black Lace reissue. 80% of the film or more was out of sync! Badly! And the picture looked worse than Courteney Love on coke! And that's baaaaaad!
However, BU might want to use the same cover image. I love that poster, and it's the only reason I'm keeping the disc! :p

Actually the Argento canon will see a rerelease somewhere in the future.Including Deep Red.If all releases look as good as their Bird release we're in for a treat.Although some of the AB releases look pretty definitive there's always room for improvement (audio problems, incomplete prints,no subs or freeze frames!).

I spoke with Lustig over at comic-con 2005, and he said they are in the early stages of DEEP RED, TENEBRE, and PHENOMENA.
Also, tartan canceled the BAVA BOX. It was supposed to come out in May last year. But they have canceled it.

That is great news and, although I know I shouldn't, I will rebuy them all. I sure hope that BU includes both the International cut and American cut of Deep Red. I haven't seen it before, but supposedly the American cut has a much faster pace and retains all of the gore. It'd certainly be a nice thing to have.

If this is true, then it's great news, as I didn't buy Tenebre or Phenomena on account of bad reviews on the transfers. AB's Deep Red I'm content with so I'll wait until reviews are up on BU's release before I decide whether or not to splurge. It'll take a lot more than corrected end titles for me to do so.

The transfers actually look damn good for non-anamorphic, particularly Phenomena. I'm happy with all of the AB Argento DVDs that are out right now, but as I said before, I'll definitely upgrade for more extras and perhaps some improved video and audio.

You're the first person in 6 years that I've heard from that gives the Phenomena disc a good review. Most people have said that there were bad artifacting issues in regards to it. Tenebre is rumored to be cut.

The Anchor Bay TENEBRE dvd is a few seconds short. It is missing one knife thrust during the flashback scene where the "red shoes" girl gets killed.Check www.dvdcompare.net for a complete comparrison.

The Japanese, Dutch, German, and I *think* Italian Phenomena discs are the longer cut. It flows a lot better I think.

Personally, I'm really looking forward to their upcoming 3 Castellari eurocrimes, especially "The Big Racket".
I would love to see them release "Il Giorno del Cobra" (The Day of the Cobra). Franco Nero running around in his white suit and hat while the background music states "I don't give a damn - I am the cobra." Great stuff.

Yeah, I'm not really interested in those titles either.
Franco is just not my cup of tea. Faceless was worthless and his only good film was Venus in Fur.
I'm going to go with my old saying: A director who thinks he has never made a good film, is hopeless.

Here you are http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7248507 .
Release date is September 19,2006.
I don't know if it's in its OAR though.Couldn't find anything about that.Judging by the cheaply looking cover it isn't even legit (though it is original posterart).

Also I looked up the label "Televista" and apparently it's a Mexican TV network?
So it might be a fullscreen TV print.
