I read an interview with Mike Mendez a couple of weeks ago in which he talked about the dvd.
This R1 release, to be released on the 11st of December by (guess who...) Trimark, is supposed to include some cool extras (commentary, behind-the-scenes & even some deleted footage), but it's going to be CUT!
Here's what the director said:
«"The Convent" is supposed to be out on video and DVD on December 11th, 2001. Just in time for Christmas. It will be R-rated so it will have 19 seconds less of gore, but if all goes according to plan, we will more than make up for it on the "Extra Features". This hopefully will be a very loaded disk.»
Does anyone know Trimarks' e-mail contact?
I can't believe they're cutting the movie...
This is one of the coolest "horror/comedies" in a long time, and it deserves to be released uncut.
I can't believe this idiots that cut horror movies because they believe they will sell more copies that way.
Think about it, who's more likely to buy this movie: us, horror fans, or some teen-movie lover? Horror fans, of course. And of course the best way to please us is by releasing cut versions...
Paramount still hasn't understood why they don't sell a lot of copies of their cut Friday the 13th dvds... anyone knows?
