I know there's a lot of Wal-Mart haters out there, but just thought I'd drop a note of some great buys that I ran into last night. Good and cheap to add to your collection (if you don't already have them).
HORROR:
TCM 2
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
Phantom of the Opera (Robert Englund)
.... there may be more that I can't remember
Others:
River's Edge (one of my all time favourites)
Once Bitten
Lone Wolf McQuade
.....and a bunch of others that I can't remember.
Sorry it's pretty vague, but it gives you an idea. There's some pretty good stuff. You may want to check it out!!!!!!

Fucking US Walmart's not having the good MGM 4.88 sale.
They had a good Paramount and Columbia Tristar sale at the US Walmart's a few months back with a lot of titles for 4.88, why can't they have this one?

I will be heading to EvilMart after work tonight. As much as I hate EvilMart, the only thing I will ever buy there are the cheap cheap DVD's, nothing else.

I must say that seeing WAL MART - THE HIGH COST OF LOW PRICE at Berlin Film Festival made me shit my pants.
There are many places to buy cheap dvd's anyway. Good buys though!

It should be a crime to sell Lone Wolf McQuade for that cheap. You don't want to piss Chuck off.

For those buying these titles, be sure to open them immediately and check to make sure they are alright. My Phantom of the Opera disc, which wasn't even loose in the case, had severe scratches on both sides from the manufacturing process...I have to take it back and exchange it now. Oh and weird thing, the cover insert for Invasion of the Body Snatchers was upside down in the case. I wanted to pick up a couple more titles anyway (I saw Loosin It and Valley Girl:SE), so I was gonna have to go back tomorrow anyway :)
I think I need to make a trip.

Spokane, at least one of our three locations, does not have this promotion. What's wrong with Washington state?

I swung by my most local location last night. I'm in the same boat.

Weak! I think I'll hit up the other locations out of curiosity but I doubt they'll have it.

Update on this.. Went to a second Wal-Mart, this one located just past the Idaho border, and nothing. So apparently Washington & Idaho don't get special treatment?

For the people who found The Brood DVD at their Evil-Mart would you pick up two copies of it for me? I'll buy it off you/or trade. I have a tonne of stuff for trade. PM me if interested.

They haven't shown up at either of the Wal-Mart supercenters here. Hopefully they'll get the promotion soon, but......

Nothing in Spokane, Washington or Post Falls, Idaho. Believe me -- I check and I check often (to semi quote Wilford Brimley)

question, is this in its own display at the front of the store and if so where, what does it look like? or is it thrown into the regular 5 dollar bin?

ok, wow. i live in a small old cruddy city in florida and just went to a regular walmart which didn't have these a couple days ago. they were all piled up like they were just poured out into the big 5 dollar bin. they had everything people have listed and probably more but i can't remember what. so keep checking, i guess it's just taking awhile to ship em around.

I went back tonight and picked up Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Double Impact, I was hoping they'd put The Brood out, but no such luck.

There is a display in the electronics section where I am. I guess it all depends on the store.

I just got back from my local Wal-Mart, and they had the MGM display in the front. I put the following on Layaway: Blow Out; Valley Girl; Stephen's King Pet Semetary; and I got Love at First Bite for $3.88, what a steal. I also put the Original Hills Have Eyes on layaway. They must have just put the display out recently, because I was at WM 5 days ago, and it wasn't out. Also, they are remodeling the WM, which is a Supercenter.

As of last night, nothing here still. The guy said it's "up to the vendors" who have decided they "may or may not" get some. Bummer.

My local Evil-Mart is off the hook. They finally got in the MGM promotion for $4.88. I already had a bunch of them, but I bought 15 that I didn't have. Some were blind buys, but they're so damned cheap that I can just sell them later if I absolutely hate 'em.
They had them out in boxes basically sitting on a shelf, stacked on top of one another. The only real sign up for the promotion was a $4.88 sign hanging above them. It seemed like they had virtually every DVD that's been listed in this thread, and many more.
i dont know what this is but i lick it anyway

Oh wow, just got back from my Wal-mart and noticed they have a display that mixes a few MGM releases with many, many Lion's Gate releases for $4.88. I remember seeing: The Brood, Midnight (I picked up a copy of this), Dolly Dearest, Leprechaun, Jacob's Ladder, House of the Dead, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), and many more.

Down in Lousiville on business and stopped by a Wal-Mart. This store had the display up on Sunday. It was pretty picked over but I picked up Cyborg, Double Impact, Killer Klowns From Outer Space (already own but couldn't resist at 4.88), Death Wish 4, and Once Bitten.
I went back this morning and was told the display was gone. I was rather shocked it was down already but it was pretty picked over a few days earlier.

Can anyone in Canada confirm what RyanPC said? I read on DVDTalk that others are seeing the sale with such titles as Leprechaun, Waxwork 1/2, Pumpkinhead 2, Candyman 3, The Dentist, etc. At that price, I'd pretty much buy all them that I don't have.

I remember seeing those at my Wal-Mart. Others that now spring to mind are the Prom Night 3 and 4 double feature, and also the recent double features, How to Make a Monster/Blood of Dracula and The Spider/War of the Colossal Beast.
Not sure if this Lions Gate sale is going on in Canada though. :(

I'm praying they are, my mom is in Regina (much bigger city than mine) and I text messaged her (ya I'm kewl n 13/f/canada) to look for 'em, keeping my fingers crossed. Of all the movies I don't have from Artisan/Lionsgate, I'd much rather pay 5 bucks than waste a DDD sale purchase on them, since Shriek Show/BU/AB/ titles are outrageously expensive in Canada and usually better flicks.
A guy on another forum said Omaha, Ne has "Murder of Crows (Cuba Gooding), Wishmaster 1/2, Wishmaster The Prohecy Fulfilled, Waxwork 1/2, Prom Night 3/4, Leprechaun, Leprechaun - Back 2 Tha Hood, Leprechaun 2 , Red Carpet Double Feature: Fear/Parents, Tommyknockers, Blood Trail, House of the Dead, Amityville - New Generation, Amityville - It's About Time, Pumpkinhead 2 - Blood Wings and the only other movie I remember wass some movie with Namoi Watts." so there's a few more titles for those interested.
