Check it out! http://www.Screamtv.net This has no affiliation with the Canadian channel who actually supposedly "borrowed" the idea from the US Scream TV network. This looks like the real deal folks and it seems they are genuine fans of the genre. Uncut and commercial free is what they are boasting. This is awesome!!

Cool!

They are based in Texas, and since I am in Oklahoma (so close) I think maybe with enough screaming, and comolaining to Cox (my cable server) maybe I can get it!

Lately, digital cable has been the 'next big thing' so I'm hoping it will be on digital.

I'm not going to hold my breath. As long as it took my cable company to get Sci-Fi, Hist. Channel, ect... I will most likely be to old to see anyway!

Where at in Oklahoma are you Cannibal Corpse? I used to live in Newcastle but now I'm stuck in Virginia. I emailed the company and asked if they were gonna be carried by DirecTv. I'll post something when I get an answer.

I just got an e-mail back from Scream tv (US) and they are shooting for Fall 2002. Still in negotiations. They're gonna air Tales From the Darkside, Twilight Zone, Night Gallery, Monsters, Freddie's Nightmares, etc. and movies from the 20's till the present and cheesy horror hosts. Let's hope all this pans out.

We're gonna be able to keep our name because we had the name first. We're ScreamTV, not scream, and we've been around since 1999 (in one form or another). Our first attempt at a website was launched last Halloween to coincide with our first Halloween Preview show. On that site, we included a "programming" page that detailed our plans for movies and original shows. If you read the press release from scream, the Canadian digital channel which started up in September, you'll see it reads suspiciously like our "programming" page did.

But on to more interesting details...

ScreamTV (http://screamtv.net) is based in Dallas, Texas. Our original plan was to be a commercial network, much like SciFi, but we've received so much feedback from the fans (wanting uncut, uninterrupted movies) that we've changed directions. We're now going to move forward as a premium/subscription channel. The price hasn't been set yet (we've still got to do a lot of negotiating with cable and satellite providers) but should be between $4.95 and $9.95 per month.

Our programming will be whatever "you" want, but for a general idea about our original shows click on our programming link at screamtv.net (http://screamtv.net/index2.html)

We're also working on a form for our site that will be used to petition cable and satellite providers to carry our programming. Bandwidth is pretty scarce (even with digital cable) and providers are reluctant to give up space. We need to convince them it's a good idea to carry us.

Spread the word. ScreamTV is coming!

The petition form should be up on the site in a day or two. There will be a link from the main page. (http://screamtv.net/index2.html)

Bandwidth is pretty scarce (even with digital cable) and providers are reluctant to give up space. We need to convince them it's a good idea to carry us.

How about this:

Get rid of all my EAST COAST / WEST COAST HBO, SHO, CIN, etc..

Why is that needed?? Do I really need the same channel 2 hours behind the one I already have??? And you wanna talk about people wasting channels, man, there are a ton of channels that need to be trashed!!! Why can't they save some bandwidth by taking down some of those "CD" channels.

(just commentary, not directed at anyone but the cable companies)

Does anybody actually subscibe to this network? I have never heard of it but I would be willing to pay almost anything to have it as part of my cable system. This is too good to be true. I have been looking for a horror network for years and now I hear that there is one out there.

I live in Montreal, canada and i have the much talked about Scream channel.
To be honest with you,in 1 year of subscription, i have watch maybe 10 movies.
You know its about all the same movies i already own on dvd so...
The movies i have watched are some old movies that are n/a on dvd.

Like Humongous,Terror train,Happy birthday to me etc.

And they have also some good tv shows.
It will have been much better to have a channel like Scream 10 or 15 years ago when those movies were hard to find.

Thx
Bye

I would still love to have a channel like this around here. I have a hard time sleeping on any sort of normal schedule so when I wake up at 2 or 3 in the morning and flip on the television I'm subjected to paid programming. This is the sort of channel I could see myself flipping on and falling to sleep to or not falling asleep and just watching films. Either way it would be a great way to spend the night.

Yeah. Either they start making DVD players with sleep buttons or Comcast better start bringing in ScreamTV...

Yes but look at the movies you mentioned. None of them are out on DVD yet so of course it would be worth it to have access to that channel.Just the idea of a network devoted to horror is worth it.

Agreed, I think a channel like this would be great. I know plenty of people who would gladly pay for a chann el like this.

the problem with scream tv (in Canada) is that they're showing the same movies over and over again! In the beginning it was great I use to watch a lot of movie that I haven't seen yet. Movies that we're talk on this forum. but after some months I rarely see new ones... always the same movies.

Tuzotonic

See that's what I was wondering about. How many movies did this network get the rights to? There is a real possibility that these are the only movies they have in their collection but if you really want see different movies I would tell them.

It looks like Scream TV is back with a twist.

This could be really cool. The site must have just come up recently cuz not all of the links work, but they seem to be on their way. Some good info in the forum (though not much)

I know it's somewhat unrelated but in this month's issue of Rue Morgue, they have a great article on Monsters HD and also a large article on the channel debuting the Director's Cut of From Beyond. Pretty fun read.

Will there ever be a proper nationwide channel for Horror in the US?

They gotta start somewhere. If this site gets me closer to having a devoted horror channel on cable, then I will try and support it.

Found a myspace site for them as well...

So uh, we're supposed to watch pint sized movies while sitting at our desktop? I don't even like watching DVDs on my desktop!

The only real horror channel for U.S. viewers is MonstersHD.
